Discipline should mean teaching, not hurting.

The word discipline actually comes from the idea of guidance/teaching. Somewhere along the way, many people grew up with discipline meaning fear, pain, shame, obedience, or “you’ll do it because I said so.” But when we look at the evidence now, physical punishment does not teach children the skills we actually want them to learn: emotional regulation, empathy, problem-solving, accountability, and self-control.
