The interests of the Serving Member audience are often different to the interests of the Social Members but not exclusively - If you are interested in veteran health and wellbeing, like this page. If you are interested in specials and soc

ial events at the club, like the primary Townsville RSL page. The Returned and Services League of Australia is the largest representative association for veterans and the largest Ex Serving Organisation in Australia with some 1,500 Sub Branches and a membership of 240,000. We advocate for individuals, and we advocate for the collective with relevant local government, state and Commonwealth bodies. The RSL is a totally independent organisation run by its members, for its members. Office bearers are elected and organised at local (sub branch and district) levels, at state branch levels and at national level. The RSL's principal purpose is to promote the interests and welfare of serving and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force and their dependants with objectives such as:
a. provide for the sick, helpless, wounded, aged, vulnerable, destitute;
b. perpetuate, the close and kindly ties of friendship created by a mutual service;
c. maintain a proper standard of dignity, honour, public spirit and noble-hearted endeavour;
d. preserve the memory and the records of those who suffered and died for Australia;
e. provide welfare to the sick, helpless, wounded, vulnerable, aged, destitute and needy. support serving Australian Defence Force members at home and abroad and actively assist them in their transition to civilian life, especially if they are detrimentally affected by their Defence service; and
g. Supporting Australian Federal Police and State Police overseas veterans with appropriate assistance and encouragement to join the League. At the local and state levels, we are excited by our constitutional reform program that will cascade down from state through the district to local clubs. This is an important and exciting period of reflection and revitalisation. The governance structure of Townsville RSL is quite unique and advantageous. Rather than dual or mixed boards, our Sub-branch owns the two clubs that fund the delivery of Veteran Services. We are excited that 2022 brings significant bounds forward in our flood and COVID recovery. Restaurant, bar and gaming capabilities this year have revitalised turnover. Locally, this turnover is the engine that drives our ability to support veterans in the area, and we are excited about continued improvement in club operations and the delivery of Veteran Services.
