✨BREAKING THE CYCLE ✨
I think it’s beautiful that so many people are choosing to do the work of healing, recognising old patterns and making the conscious choice not to carry them forward.
But breaking cycles isn’t always about healing from something traumatic or painful.
Sometimes it’s about questioning what we’ve been taught to believe.
How much of what we think is right, wrong, normal or acceptable has actually come from our own understanding of life, and how much have we simply inherited?
Our families, religion, society, culture and the generations before us have all played a part in shaping how we see the world.
And while there’s so much wisdom and love to be passed down, there are also beliefs rooted in fear, judgement and a lack of understanding.
And here’s the thing. Some of that conditioning runs so deep that we don’t even recognise it in ourselves.
It can show up in our immediate thoughts, our instinctive reactions and the judgements we make before we’ve even stopped to consider why.
And that’s where I believe self-awareness is so important.
Being able to catch ourselves in those moments and ask, Why do I think that? Where did that belief come from? Is there another way I could look at this?
Not to judge ourselves for having those thoughts, but to give ourselves the chance to understand something differently.
Because we can change our perspective. We can choose curiosity over judgement, compassion over criticism and understanding over assumptions.
And we have the opportunity to pass that on to our children too.
To show them that people can love differently, live differently and make choices we may never make ourselves, and still be deserving of kindness and respect.
Breaking the cycle isn’t just about what we choose to leave behind, but what we consciously choose to carry forward. 💕
Much love to you all 🫶
