Remember that no matter if you’re cooking on gas or electric, there is a possibility for things to catch alight.

If a fire starts while cooking, remember to:

• remove everyone from the vicinity of the fire
• turn off the heat sources (if safe to do so)
• don’t apply water to hot oil
• don’t pick up the pot
• don’t try to carry the pot outside.
• don’t take cover off to see if it is still burning
• ventilate the room by opening the doors and windows once the flames are controlled.

If you do get a minor burn, follow these steps:
• do not use ice or cold packs to cool the burn
• run the burn under cool running water for 20 minutes before seeking medical attention
• seek medical help if the burn is bigger than a 50-cent piece
• call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.

Deciding whether to keep your child home when they're feeling off can be tricky, and it's okay to feel unsure. Here are a few symptoms to look out for that can help guide you.

If your child has a fever (a temperature above 38°C), diarrhoea or vomiting, or sore eyes with discharge, it's best to keep them home and let them rest.

Sometimes it's not so clear-cut. If you're worried and need advice, you can register online for the Child and Adolescent Virtual Urgent Care Service (CAVUCS) to speak with a paediatric-trained clinician.

Did you know that different STI tests require different types of samples?🔬

For a routine STI check with no visible symptoms, your health care provider will collect a few samples to test for common infections. These include chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, HIV and hepatitis B. They'll tailor the tests to your sexual history.

Sexual health checks should always include blood tests for syphilis and HIV. Speak to your GP, Aboriginal Health Service, travel doctor, uni health service, online sexual health provider, Adelaide Sexual Health Centre or SHINE SA to book a sexual health check today.

DEVELOPING: A severe thunderstorm warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for residents in parts of metropolitan Adelaide, the Mount Lofty Ranges and Mid North and Murraylands districts.

BoM: “A line of showers and thunderstorms may result in areas of heavy rainfall extending from Clare through to parts of the southern Fleurieu Peninsula.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Clare and Gawler.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

- Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
- Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
- Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby."
