I'm heading to Melbourne on Sunday to expand my knowledge on all things Visceral Fascia.
Connecting the head to the pelvis and beyond, the visceral fascia is one of the most complex fascia's in the body and I am so fascinated by this complex network. I am hoping this will increase my confidence in treating pain and dysfunction to improve outcomes for my clients.
Thanks to Bower Bird CPD I'm looking forward to meeting Liz Howard.

Some short but positive feedback today from a client with chronic neck pain following electroacupuncture.
"I think it is better with the wires connected".
It's so good to hear positive results.

When a new piece of equipment arrives at the clinic, there's always one person who ends up being my first volunteer... ❀

Thankfully, my very patient partner was more than happy to help me test out my new electroacupuncture machine while getting some much-needed relief for his sore shoulders & neck.

Electroacupuncture combines traditional acupuncture with a gentle electrical stimulation to help reduce pain, relax tight muscles, and encourage healing. It's a fantastic option for people dealing with stubborn neck and back pain, shoulder & knee pain, sporting injuries, muscle tension, and chronic aches.

I love being able to keep learning and invest in new techniques and equipment so I can offer the best possible care to my clients.

A huge thank you to my favourite guinea pig for trusting me (again! 😄).

If you've been living with pain or tight muscles and are curious about whether electroacupuncture could help, I'd love to chat and see if it's the right treatment for you.

💚 Bookings are now available.

This is why I love teaching HypnoBithing

Dr Melanie Jackson (PhD)
Want to reduce your chances of a caesarean by 38% and chances of epidural by 50%....have a listen to episode 211 of the great birth rebellion podcast. We looked at research which showed that when women prepared with educating themselves about the labour process and sought out strategies to work through pain - using HypnoBirthing technique - they significantly reduced their chances of caesarean and epidural.

Something that I am very passionate about. It saddens me that 1 in 3 women describe their birth as traumatic. Birth Trauma Australia are doing some great work to support women & families.
Birth Trauma Awareness Week 2006
13th-19th July.

Get Repost App • Peak body for birth-related trauma. The arrival of a baby is a positive and joyful event for many parents. But for some, it can be traumatic.

Physical and psychological birth-related trauma have lasting impacts.
It is estimated that at least 18% of Women+ in Australia who have given birth are living with the impacts of physical birth trauma.

Many of these injuries are not picked up at the birth or in the postnatal period, these conditions may appear or worsen months, years or decades later, and symptoms are often minimised by clinicians.

The impacts extend far beyond physical health.

This Birth Trauma Awareness Week (July 13-19) we will be counting the cost of birth-related injuries.

Get Repost App • HypnoBirthing Institute If you have ever had a skeptical colleague wave off HypnoBirthing with "the trials never showed anything," this one is worth saving.

They were partly right, and the why is the interesting part. The earlier randomized trials on hypnosis for birth mostly failed to show a drop in epidural use. But look closely at those studies and the reasons stack up.

Control groups often went and found hypnosis training on their own, which blurs the comparison. Clinicians were blinded, so they did not know to support the technique, and HypnoBirthing leans on that support to work. Practice and attendance were frequently low. And most of those trials tested standalone hypnosis, not the full HypnoBirthing program with its education and philosophy.

The 2026 University of Queensland study took a different route. Using propensity score matching, the researchers paired 1,322 real-world HypnoBirthing users with closely matched people who did not use it, drawn from a cohort of nearly 100,000 births over 13 years. That design sidesteps the contamination problem that sank the earlier trials.

The result was a significant association with reduced epidural use and a higher likelihood of an unassisted vaginal birth.

It is still observational, and the authors are clear about that. But it is the most substantial HypnoBirthing-specific evidence we have had, and it reframes the old "no evidence" line.

How do you talk about the evidence base with skeptical colleagues?

Curious what lands.
