Movement isn’t just something I recommend to my patients, it’s something I try to live by.

As a chiropractor, I often talk about the importance of movement. But movement isn’t just about burning calories, hitting a step count, or going to the gym. It’s about having purpose behind why you move.

For me, movement is a reminder of the privilege of having a body that is capable of doing incredible things. It’s about building the strength and resilience to experience life more fully.

Over the last 12 months, I’ve challenged myself well beyond what I ever thought I was capable of:

🥾 Hiked Mount Barney in 9 hours.
🚶‍♀️ Completed the 35 km Bloody Long Walk.
🎀 Took part in the 5 km Breast Cancer Fun Run.

And next weekend, I’ll be lining up for the Sydney City2Surf 14 km.

None of these events were about being the fastest or the fittest. They were about proving to myself that my body is capable of more than I often give it credit for.

Your version of movement doesn’t have to look like mine. It might be walking around the block, playing with your kids, gardening, surfing, lifting weights, dancing, or training for your first event.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s creating a body that allows you to say “yes” to the experiences that make life memorable.

So here’s my question for you:

What are you moving for?

Mid Thoracic Adjustment 👋

The mid thoracic spine is the middle section of your back and plays an important role in posture and upper body movement.

It's common for this area to become stiff, especially if you spend long hours sitting or working at a desk.

In this video, Dr Julian performs a mid thoracic adjustment on Dr Nick.

Treatment is always tailored to the individual following an appropriate assessment.

✨ Healing from the Inside Out ✨Diana and I are spending the weekend immersed in an incredible meditation and mindset course, and the takeaways have been nothing short of inspiring! 🧠💫

A few big lessons we’ve been reflecting on:

🧘‍♂️ Healing Starts Within: Real transformation and healing begin on the inside first.

⚡ Shifting Your Vibration: Changing your internal energy and getting into true alignment allows the body to do what it was naturally designed to do—heal itself!

As a chiropractor, this resonates so deeply with me. 🌿 The core philosophy of chiropractic care is remarkably similar: when you remove the interference, you clear the path for the body's innate intelligence and nature to restore health from within.

It’s amazing how mind, body, and energy all speak the same language when it comes to self-healing! 🙌

One more day to go! 💕 Beyond grateful for this time, learning, and growth together. 🌟

Does your jaw click, lock or open unevenly?

Many people notice clicking or popping in their jaw but aren't sure if it's something they should be concerned about.

Jaw symptoms may include:
• clicking or popping
• difficulty opening wide
• the jaw opening to one side
• pain around the jaw or chewing muscles

These symptoms can have a range of causes, so a thorough assessment is important.

Depending on the cause, management may include jaw exercises, soft tissue techniques, dry needling, chiropractic care or referral to another healthcare professional such as a dentist when appropriate.

In this video, Dr Nick explains what may be happening and why it's worth getting persistent jaw symptoms checked.

What's the best thing you can do for your spine outside of chiropractic?

The answer isn't complicated.

✔️ Move your body regularly.
✔️ Include some form of strength training.
✔️ Stay active with activities you enjoy.
✔️ Eat well and look after your overall health.

Chiropractic care can be one part of supporting your spinal health, but your everyday habits matter just as much.

The more consistently you move, the stronger and more resilient your body can become.

🏃‍♀️ Does your teenager keep complaining about low back pain?

Occasional aches can happen, especially in active teens.

But if the pain is persistent or keeps coming back, particularly in young athletes involved in sports like rugby, swimming, gymnastics or dancing, it's worth having it assessed.

One possible cause is a pars stress fracture, an injury that can occur in the lower back of growing athletes.

In this video, Dr Harriet explains a real case where a high school athlete's ongoing back pain was found to be more than just a muscle strain.

Early assessment can help identify the cause and guide the most appropriate management.

👋Hi, I'm Dr. Julian, your Ipswich Chiropractor and I believe that pain doesn’t just affect your body. It slowly steals the moments that matter most.

Think about what living with discomfort really costs you.

It’s sitting on the sidelines watching your kids or grandkids play because your back might give out. It’s saying "no" to the sports, workouts, and hobbies that used to bring you joy. It’s pushing through every single workday with a throbbing headache or a stiff neck, completely exhausted by 3 PM from simply holding onto tension.

Worst of all, it’s that constant, nagging fear: "Is my body starting to fail me?"

That’s why I became a Chiropractor.

My journey started with a simple curiosity about how the human body works and why some people stay active and resilient while others feel trapped by pain. But as I studied Chiropractic Science and spent years learning the complexities of human movement, that curiosity turned into a lifelong passion for something much deeper: helping people reclaim their freedom and vitality.

After treating countless patients over the years, I’ve learned one fundamental truth:

No one walks into a clinic just complaining about a "sore back" or a "stiff joint." They’re talking about the quality of life that pain is keeping them from living.

Behind every symptom is a human story. A parent who wants the energy to play tag in the backyard. An athlete who misses the camaraderie of their team. A hard worker who wants to pull a full shift without dreading every movement. Or someone who simply wants to wake up in the morning feeling rested, mobile, and ready for the day.

I believe true, transformative healthcare starts with listening—really listening—to your story, your frustrations, and your goals. Great care isn't about applying a one-size-fits-all approach. It’s about taking the time to understand where your body is struggling, finding the root cause of the issue, and building a personalized path forward together.

Over the years, I’ve continually advanced my training across a wide range of gentle, effective chiropractic techniques. But as much as I love the science of human movement, the single most rewarding part of my profession will always be the moment a patient realizes they can trust their body again. Watching someone go from feeling limited, cautious, and frustrated to confident, strong, and active is why I do what I do.

Moving into a new community has been an incredibly exciting chapter in my life. I’m looking forward to getting to know the locals, building lasting relationships, and helping more individuals take control of their health.

To make that first step as simple and reassuring as possible, I’m welcoming new patients into the clinic with a complete health assessment offer.

💻 Spending hours at your desk?

If you're sitting for long periods, your body can start to feel the effects—especially if your workstation isn't set up well.

Here are a few simple tips from Dr Julian:

✅ Position your screen at eye level.
✅ Keep your elbows comfortably supported.
✅ Make sure your feet are well supported, using a footrest if needed.
✅ Get up and move regularly throughout the day.

No workstation is perfect if you stay in the same position for hours. Regular movement is just as important as a good setup.

Small adjustments to your workspace and your daily habits can go a long way toward keeping you more comfortable.

Meet one of your spine's most important support muscles: the multifidus.

These small muscles sit close to the spine and play an important role in helping support and stabilise each spinal segment during movement.

Like any muscle, they respond to how much we use them.

Long periods of sitting, reduced activity and poor posture may contribute to these muscles becoming less active.

That's why regular movement, strengthening exercises and good posture habits are all important for supporting spinal health.

As the saying goes…

Use it or lose it!
