We are now accepting inquiries for our small Selective/situational mutism groups for next year.

These groups are specifically designed for children who experience anxiety around speaking.

Groups are small, structured, and led by an experienced speech pathologist who has clinical and lived experience with SM. Evidence- based approaches are utilized in a fun and relaxed setting.

I’ll be collecting any items to give towards this amazing good cause. If you have anything to donate, as of next week I’ll have a box available in my waiting area❤️❤️

Okay I am terrified. I feel so responsible for the outcome of the campaign and as I stand here today for our It's in the Bag photoshoot at Bunnings I am oscillating between being terrified and full of joy about this upcoming campaign.

The gap of It's in the Bag that we collect compared to how many are requested by our charities just keeps getting wider and wider and I honestly don't know what more I can do.

In 2019 (yep before COVID) we were collecting over 130,000 bags but now we are collecting around 80,000. It’s such a dramatic drop and I just don’t know what else to do. I fully understand the rising cost of living is affecting so many, but I just can't keep not being able to fulfill all the requests. It breaks my heart that women and girls will wake up in a DV shelter on Christmas without a bag and you have no idea just how life-changing a bag filled with essentials can feel to receive.

Got any ideas about how we could get more bags? I am open to all suggestions, I need help www.sharethedignity.org.au/itsinthebag

1 in 4 people have Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) a permanent, lifelong disability.

The NDIS currently is not recognizing this life long disability leaving many individuals without the support required to achieve their educational, social and life goals.

The DLD Project are meeting with a like minded advocacy organisation to talk next steps in their national campaign, to raise their voices for people with DLD and their families.

They need just over 100 signatures to hit 1,000 on their petition to the NDIS.

Can you help us get there before next week? Join the What About DLD campaign: https://thedldproject.com/what-about-dld/

Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) affects 1 in 14 people. Increase your knowledge of this hidden but common disability here.

🧡💙🧡💙Good luck to all the kids off to school this week or early next week. 🧡💙🧡💙

Many kids feel worried/anxious when starting a new school year. 🥺😬There is a lot of uncertainty with a new classroom, teacher, classmates and unknown expectations.

Worry/anxiety often shows up in kids’ behavior. Kids may have tantrums, be teary or quick to anger, slow to get ready, or just refuse to do what is asked of them. This is challenging for everyone and takes a lot of love and patience. 💙🧡👨‍👩‍👧‍👦💙🧡

Sending all the kids and parents patience, love, and courage to face the new school year. 🧡💙🧡💙

For those who know me, you will know that Selective Mutism is close to my heart due to personal experience.

Tenille gives a wonderful reminder that many children and adults want to be seen, heard, understood and treated like everyone else but sometimes they just can’t (yet).

Please be patient and kind and never assume someone is being rude because at that time they are unable to communicate. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Posted • Communication and connection is made in many different ways. 🥰

Many children, teens and adults communicate in different ways. They may use speech 👄, sign language 🧏🏽, gestures , writing✍️, word-to-text apps 📲, communication devices 💻 or a mix of communication methods.

We shouldn’t be quick to judge or make assumptions about someone’s abilities because they communicate differently to us.

The little boy who owns this iPad understands everything you say to him. He can talk but it is often difficult to understand because of his Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). The iPad and Proloquo2go (app) helps to him communicate when his speech can’t be understood.👍🏼

Be inclusive and give everyone an opportunity to communicate the best they can.🗣✍️👍🏼👩🏽‍💻🧏‍♂️📕

Happy Christmas 🎄 to you and your family 🎄🎅🏼🤶🏻🎄

🤶🏻🎅🏼🎄 I am loving all the kids stories about the mischief their elves are getting up to 🧝.

Elf on the shelf provide so much opportunity for descriptive language, prepositions, and predictions. 🧝🎄 I don’t however recommend using your elf to manage behavior.
