Shylie Smith

REGISTERED ART PSYCHOTHERAPIST - EXPERIENCING COLOUR

Shylie is an Art Psychotherapist registered with ANZACATA, ACA and PACFA. Shylie has experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families in both hospitals and the community. Shylie specialises in trauma-informed therapeutic approaches, creating a safe, nurturing environment for clients.

Shylie enjoys assisting clients find the therapeutic value in visual communication and self-expression to support management of a range of psychological and emotional challenges including stress, anxiety and depression. Shylie helps clients understand their relationship with other people and the world around them, and helps them regain their sense of self and identity by connecting with their emotional states and challenges through their art.

Shylie has a gentle, friendly style and is informed by a range of modalities, combining Art Therapy with Polyvagal Theory, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, Somatic Psychotherapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. Shylie draws on the most appropriate approach for her clients, depending on their individual situation, challenges and needs, to support sustainable personal growth and life outcomes.

In her spare time Shylie enjoys creating her own art and practising yoga and meditation.
