Today, some of our doctors and nurses came together for one of our regular lunchtime clinical meetings.

Dr Renee Robarts led an open discussion on PTSD, presenting four case studies and sharing practical insights into treatment, support and caring for patients experiencing the effects of trauma.

It was also GP Registrar Dr Victor Forcadelaโ€™s first clinical meeting at TSAJ, and a chance to see firsthand how we work: sharing knowledge, discussing cases, asking questions and learning from each other.

General practice can be challenging. Having a team around you that genuinely supports one another makes a difference.

Good clinical care. Compassion. Teamwork. Trust.

And, apparently, pizza. ๐Ÿ•

The best GPs never stop learning.

This weekend I'm in Melbourne at the GPCE (General Practice Conference & Exhibition), while our nursing team is also away at a national nursing conference.

One of the things I love most about general practice is that there's always something new to learn. Medicine is constantly evolving, and I think that's one of the best parts of the job. Every conference, every conversation and every new idea is an opportunity to become a better doctor.

Now, I was supposed to be keeping an eye out for our own Dr Asanga Bandara, who's here too... but I may have admitted before I left that finding the nearest coffee cart might happen first! โ˜•๐Ÿ˜‰

Have a great weekend, everyone.

The coffee is important.

But after that, it's the people.

One of the things I've always enjoyed most about general practice is working alongside people who genuinely care about their patients and support one another.

Medicine is a team sport. The best outcomes happen when doctors, nurses, reception staff and management are all pulling in the same direction.

That's something we've worked hard to build at TSAJ and something I'm proud of every day.

When people think about healthcare, they often think about doctors and nurses.

But every well-run practice relies on a strong administration team working behind the scenes.

From helping patients find appointments and managing recalls, to coordinating referrals, processing results and keeping the day running smoothly, our admin team plays an important role in everything we do.

Their work may not always be visible, but it is absolutely integral to the care our patients receive and the support our clinicians rely on every day.

We're incredibly grateful for the people who keep TSAJ running.

The TSAJ way.

This week, Dr Caitriona Duffy led a discussion about an interesting case involving a young boy as part of our ongoing clinical education program.

One of the things we value at TSAJ is learning from each other. Medicine is constantly evolving, and some of the most valuable learning comes from sharing experiences, discussing challenging cases and hearing different perspectives from colleagues.

These conversations help us grow as clinicians and ultimately provide better care for our patients.

The pizza didn't hurt either.

Most doctors aren't actively looking for a new practice.

They're busy.

Busy looking after patients. Busy supporting their families. Busy getting through the day.

But after more than 30 years in general practice, I've learned that many doctors are quietly asking themselves the same questions.

Do I enjoy coming to work?

Do I feel supported?

Am I practising the kind of medicine I set out to practise?

Do I have colleagues I trust?

Am I part of a team that makes me better?

At The Surgery at Jerra, my wife Kylie and I have spent nearly 20 years building the kind of practice we're proud to be part of. A practice built on Care, Compassion, Teamwork and Trust.

We're not the right fit for everyone.

But if you've ever wondered whether there might be a better way to practise, perhaps it's worth a conversation.

One of the questions I often ask doctors is simple:

"What makes a good day at work?"

The answers are usually surprisingly similar.

Interesting patients.

Good colleagues.

Knowing help is available when you need it.

Feeling respected.

Being able to focus on medicine rather than unnecessary distractions.

At The Surgery at Jerra, my wife Kylie and I have spent nearly 20 years trying to build a practice around those principles.

We sometimes refer to it as "The TSAJ Way."

Not because we think we're special, but because culture doesn't happen by accident. It develops through thousands of small decisions made over many years.

The way people treat each other.

The way challenges are handled.

The willingness to lend a hand when someone needs support.

For me, that's what good teamwork looks like.

And ultimately, it's what helps us provide better care for our patients.

After nearly 20 years, one thing has become very clear.

Good teams don't happen by accident.

They are built deliberately, one person, one decision and one shared value at a time.

At The Surgery at Jerra, we've worked hard to create a culture where people support each other, respect each other and genuinely care about the work they do.

That includes our reception team, nurses, doctors, allied health professionals and everyone behind the scenes.

We're proud of the team we've built and grateful to the people who continue to make it what it is.

Because good healthcare starts with good people.

After more than 30 years in general practice, I've learned that most doctors aren't actively looking for a new practice.

They're busy looking after patients, supporting colleagues and getting on with the job.

Less administration.

Less politics.

Less pressure.

More time focused on good medicine, continuity of care and being part of a team that genuinely works together.

My wife Kylie and I have spent nearly 20 years building the kind of practice we're proud to be part of. A practice built on Care, Compassion, Teamwork and Trust.

We're not the right fit for everyone.

But if you're an experienced VR GP who values collegiality, clinical autonomy and being part of a supportive team, we'd be happy to have a confidential conversation.

Good healthcare starts with a relationship.

Not just an appointment.

At The Surgery at Jerra, we believe the best medicine is built on trust, continuity and genuine connection. That applies not only to our patients, but also to the way we work together as a team.

We're proud of the culture we've created and the community we've served for nearly 20 years.

If you've ever wondered whether there might be a practice that's a better fit, perhaps it's worth a conversation.
