What if your headache is trying to tell you something?
While headaches can have many causes, I often see them as an invitation to look deeper.
Often a headache is not where the story begins. It may be where the body finally says, “I can’t hold onto this any longer.”
Many of us learnt early in life that certain emotions weren’t acceptable. Anger, frustration, irritation, disappointment or resentment may have felt unsafe to express, so instead we pushed them down, ignored them or tried to move past them.
But emotions don’t simply disappear because we don’t acknowledge them.
Over time, what isn’t expressed can become held in the body. We feel the shoulders tighten. The neck becomes stiff. The jaw clenches. The nervous system remains on alert.
Then one day, the headache arrives.
Not as the problem itself, but as the body’s signal that something deeper may need our attention.
Instead of only asking, “How do I get rid of this headache?” perhaps we can also ask:
What am I feeling right now?
What am I frustrated about?
What am I holding onto?
Where am I not honouring myself?
The body has an incredible way of communicating with us when we’re willing to listen.
Sometimes healing begins not with treating the symptom, but with becoming curious about the message.

Please note: headaches and migraines can have many physical and medical causes. Persistent, severe or unusual headaches should always be assessed by an appropriate healthcare professional.
