Sometimes we decide what we can’t do before we have even had the chance to learn it.
“I’m not coordinated.”
“My core is too weak.”
“I’ll never be able to do that.”
But those thoughts are not always the truth.
Sometimes the spring needs changing.
Sometimes the set-up needs adjusting.
Sometimes you need more support, a different version or simply more time with the exercise.
You do not need to know the difference between Elephant and Horseback.
You do not need to know where your feet go for The Hundred, or why Rolling Like a Ball is much harder than it looks.
You do not need to know how to set up the Reformer, Chair or Springboard.
That is what you are here to learn.
At first, it can all feel like a lot.
Then we do it again.
The names start to sound familiar.
You remember how to adjust the footbar.
You begin to know which spring works for you.
And sometimes, something you were sure you could not do simply needed to be taught in a different way.
You are not expected to get everything right.
You do not need to know Pilates before you begin.
You just need to start and give yourself the chance to learn.
