We're proud to announce the latest addition to the Riklan training portfolio!
Recently, our Emergency Response Training Consultants rolled up their sleeves and undertook recent intensive training in PUASAR030 Undertake Trench Rescue, adding the finishing touches to another critical rescue capability to the growing range of specialist emergency response training we offer.
The training was facilitated by our new best mate Dane, an internationally renowned specialist instructor with more than 30 years of operational experience across Fire, Rescue and Ambulance Services. Widely respected throughout the emergency services industry, Dane is recognised for his expertise in advanced road crash rescue, heavy vehicle rescue, trench rescue and swiftwater rescue, bringing decades of operational knowledge and instructor experience to the program.
This training forms part of Riklan's ongoing commitment to the professional development of our Emergency Response Consultants. Trench rescue perfectly complements the extensive rescue disciplines our team already delivers including confined space rescue, vertical rescue, road crash rescue, underground and surface search and rescue, hazardous materials response and firefighting.
Having completed this intensive program under the mentorship of one of Australia's most respected trench rescue specialists, our consultants have refined their techniques, gained valuable operational insights and incorporated the latest industry best practice into the course. We're proud to now offer what we believe is one of Australia's leading trench rescue training programs, combining nationally recognised competency with real-world experience, modern equipment and practical lessons learned from one of the very best in the industry.

Why is trench rescue training important?
Trench and excavation incidents are among the most technically challenging and high-risk rescue scenarios. This course equips emergency response and mine rescue teams with the specialist knowledge and practical skills to safely manage these complex emergencies.
Participants will learn to:
✅ Construct advanced shoring and stabilisation systems to prevent secondary collapse.
✅ Operate specialised hydraulic lifting, hauling and trench rescue equipment.
✅ Identify and manage hazards while continually monitoring unstable ground conditions.
✅ Safely package and extricate trapped casualties while minimising further injury.
✅ Strengthen emergency preparedness and align site response capability with Work Health and Safety obligations.
These skills directly enhance a rescue team's ability to respond to pit wall failures, underground cave-ins, excavation collapses and heavy equipment entrapments, providing greater protection for both rescuers and casualties during high-consequence incidents.
