๐ŸŒฑ KBULG's Annual Tree Planting Day ๐ŸŒฑ
A fantastic Sunday morning spent with GUDRH staff and students supporting this amazing community initiative. Focused on environmental sustainability, the event saw approx. 3,000 native seedlings planted across the Wittenoom Street Bushland Reserve. A great excuse to get outdoors, brave the chilly weather, and give back to our local community ๐Ÿ’š

GUDRH staff, Tyrone and Andrew, recently attended the Goldfields Menโ€™s Health Conference, an important community event hosted by the Goldfields Community Legal Centre Inc. focused on strengthening menโ€™s health, wellbeing and connection across the region. The conference brought together local voices, practical resources and honest conversations around mental health, physical wellbeing, resilience and support for men in the Goldfields.

Ex-Australian Paralympian and Mental Health Ambassador Liam Twomey delivered a meaningful keynote address, alongside accomplished motivational speaker, Daniel Merza, who shared his โ€œGet the Monkeys off Your Backโ€ framework. It was a valuable opportunity to connect with community partners and continue learning about the challenges and strengths that shape health and wellbeing in our region.

After completing two Kalgoorlie placements, one with Hayley as her supervisor, Alanna has returned permanently to the Goldfields, beginning her career as a new graduate Occupational Therapist. Their journey highlights the lasting impact of clinical supervision - demonstrating how a supervisor can strengthen student learning and bolster their own clinical experience, while also supporting the growth of a sustainable rural workforce.

By opening their doors to students, clinicians can support hands-on learning while helping to grow a skilled, locally connected health workforce for their community. We hope their experience inspires more clinicians to step into a supervisory role and support future students like Alanna.

๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿœ GUDRH staff and students came together during National Reconciliation Week to connect, learn and reflect through a series of meaningful cultural experiences. From a special morning tea and yarning session with local Wangkatha Elders - Senior Elder Nanna Maisie Harkin, Aunty Miriam Brownley and Aunty Jennifer Bevan - to an immersive on Country Honey Ant Tour with the Ulrich family, exploring traditional bushfoods that have sustained the Tjupan people for thousands of years, these moments highlight GUDRHโ€™s commitment to culturally informed learning and respectful practice in rural and remote communities.
