We do what we love and love what we do to brighten the lives of our riders with disabilities at our Centre, however we could not continue to operate without the incredible continuing support from our local community and organisations. An example of this is the recent ClubGrant awards organised by Mingara Country Club that Treasurer Greg and Secretary Linda recently attended. 70 organisations were awarded over $1.5 million to enable them to continue the incredible work that all of these hard working volunteers carry out for our Central Coast charities and sporting organisations.

With the skills of Treasurer Greg, CCRDA were able to receive a very generous combined donation total of $15,000 from Ettalong Bowling, Everglades Country and Wyong Leagues Clubs to assist in the ongoing care and provision of horses to conduct our therapeutic riding classes for our local participants.

Huge appreciation to all of the Central Coast Clubs who participate in these wonderful ClubGrant contributions to ensure that we can all continue to provide better lives for the recipients of our services. Special mention also to another of our continuing supporters Gosford RSL Club who gave us a separate donation of $6,000 and hosted these award presentations. These generous acts allow us to devote more time to supporting our wonderful attendees and we are so very happy to acknowledge and express our appreciation to these wonderful clubs on behalf of our devoted volunteers, beautiful horses and amazing riders.

RDA Central Coast had a very enjoyable and successful Open Day last Sunday and raised some much needed funds for our operations. We had 60 visitors who toured the centre, grabbed some bargains and enjoyed some delicious food whilst they were there. Although we didn’t sell all of our excess quality horse gear, Coach Pru is now advertising some of these for sale through social media.

We couldn’t have had this day without our own wonderful volunteers who organised, cooked, potted plants and gave other beautiful gifts to donate as well as assisting on the day – about 30 of our volunteers helped and it was a very enjoyable day for us, as well as for our visitors.

In organising this event we had received some great horse gear donations, in addition to other centre friends who generously gave us so many lovely (as well as delicious) items to sell. These include our good friends at Saddles (Mount White), Bakers Delight (Erina) and Woolworths (Erina), plus our very own volunteer Joanne who made and donated a beautiful horse quilt that was very successfully raffled. Huge thanks also to local news and radio stations who spread the news of our Open Day so comprehensively, such as: Mangrove Mountain Community News, Your Guide Central Coast, Scott Levi at ABC Central Coast and Radio presenter Mark Phillips (Easy Listening 93.3 fm). Events like this often inspire further donations and we would like to also thank the Harris Narvo Hotels who have since generously donated further funds for our Centre. We are so lucky to have such an amazing community to help us to thrive!!

On the strength of the sales you can see, we have already bought our ā€˜boys’ some lovely new rugs to keep them warm in this cold weather.

Don’t forget to pop it in your calendar — our Open Day is this Sunday the 26th from 10am. We’ll have plenty of horse gear, plants, a sausage sizzle, cakes and drinks. You can also join a tour of our Centre to see what we’re all about.
