Hi Ladies, the AusAlert test is happening this Monday 27th July at 12:00pm 🚨🚨

The alert is a nationwide test and compatible mobile phones will sound an alarm for approximately 10 seconds. While this is only a test, we understand that sudden alarms can be unsettling for some people and there may be women feeling nervous about the test.

As a result, we are opening the Karratha Women's Place for a "Coffee & Chat" between 11:30am-12:30pm on Monday, so you do not need to experience the alert on your own πŸ©·πŸ’œ

Picnic Club is Back!

Does your child find mealtimes challenging?
Picnic Club is a FREE, play-based, evidence-informed program for children aged 2-5 years who are selective with food, cautious around new foods, or who find mealtimes tricky.

Using a responsive, low-pressure approach, children are supported to build comfort, confidence and positive experiences with food through play, without pressure to taste or eat.

This group is:
βœ” Child-led
βœ” Neurodiversity-affirming
βœ” Responsive feeding informed
βœ” Focused on Safety Before Variety

Facilitated by our Dietitian and Occupational Therapist, each session includes playful food exploration, practical strategies for caregivers, and a relaxed picnic environment where children can learn alongside their peers.

🚨 The NDIS Bill contains another dangerous power that must not be missed.
Proposed section 33(2EA) would allow the Minister to impose caps on:
πŸ’° funding amounts
⏱️ intensity, frequency or duration of supports
πŸ‘₯ worker-to-participant ratios
This is deeply concerning.

A power to cap support ratios could push people into group-based models, even when that is unsafe, inappropriate or inconsistent with their assessed needs.
The NDIS was built on individualised support. It must not be replaced by blunt caps that ignore people’s needs.

Every Australian Counts is calling for this power to be removed.
βœ… No caps that override individual need
βœ… No forced group models
βœ… No reduction of 1:1 or 2:1 support where it is needed
βœ… No cuts without proper scrutiny, co-design and review rights
The NDIS must remain a scheme based on safety, dignity, choice and control.

In breaking news, the Greens have secured an 8-week extension to the Senate Inquiry into the 'Securing the NDIS for Future Generations' bill.

The Inquiry will be extended until 14 August.

This puts an end to the government's plan to get the bill passed by 30 June.

The Greens have also secured amendments to the bill that:

- Ensure support determinations can't be applied to daily living, transport, consumables, assistive technology, or home modifications.

- Limit the support determinations to social, community and civic participation so that it can't impact the funding people use to attend medical appointments or go to work.

- Change the requirements for people to have tried all appropriate treatments before accessing the NDIS, so that treatments can't include forced medication and must be available through the public health system.

- Required the framework for automated decision making to be made public.

- Limit the transitional rules the NDIS Minister can make from 12 months long down to six months long.

These changes formed part of an agreement the government made with the Greens to pass the negative gearing and capital gains tax changes.

Karratha Carers this one’s for you! Don’t miss out on this opportunity to do something for yourself!!!

We're delighted to be partnering with Carers WA this month to host two Paint & Brunch workshops at paintbox.

Designed as a gentle pause from the demands of everyday life, these sessions invite participants to slow down, connect with others, and enjoy a morning of creativity in a welcoming studio environment.

Together, we'll explore acrylic painting inspired by bold botanicals and expressive colour while sharing good conversation, delicious food, and the simple pleasure of making something with our hands. Perfect for both beginner and experienced artists with a willingness to be present, experiment, and enjoy the process.

Workshop dates:
β€’ Tuesday, 9 June 2026 | 10:00am–1:00pm
