Dermal fillers can create natural, beautiful results — but they’re still medical procedures that carry real risks.
Swelling, bruising, and infection are possible, and in rare cases, filler can block a blood vessel and cause serious complications.

Always ensure your injector is a qualified medical professional with the right training, sterile technique, and access to emergency treatments.

Endometriosis is common—and often misunderstood.
It happens when tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus and can cause pelvic pain, heavy periods, pain with s*x, or trouble conceiving.
There isn’t a single cure, but effective options exist: pain management, hormonal therapy, and sometimes surgery. If these symptoms sound familiar, talk to your GP or gynaecologist about an individualised plan.

General information only—this is not personal medical advice. If you have sudden or severe pain, seek urgent care (call 000 in Australia). Please avoid sharing personal medical details in comments.

A painful, scaly spot on the scalp that doesn’t heal — could it be something more serious?

In this case, a middle-aged man presented with a tender, non-pigmented lesion that had begun to bleed spontaneously.
It turned out to be a Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) — a common but potentially dangerous type of skin cancer caused by chronic sun exposure.

Early detection and surgical excision led to a full recovery.

☀️ Regular skin checks save lives.

A large, slow-growing sore on the elbow turned out to be a basal cell carcinoma — the most common form of skin cancer in Australia.
These cancers often start as a small shiny bump or ulcer and gradually enlarge over time.

☀️ Long-term sun exposure is the main cause, and early detection makes treatment far simpler.
If you notice a non-healing spot or sore, book a professional skin check.

Melanoma can develop on the scalp, hidden beneath the hair — making it one of the easiest skin cancers to miss.

If you notice a new, dark, or changing spot, or a sore that doesn’t heal, get it checked by a qualified health professional.
Early detection can save lives.

“That tiny, shiny bump didn’t hurt—but it was a BCC. UV damage flips cells’ ‘off switch,’ and the bump keeps growing. Early check = easier fix.”

🩺 Case Insight: Keratoacanthoma Surgery

A rapidly growing lesion on the left proximal forearm turned out to be a keratoacanthoma — a skin growth that often looks similar to a squamous cell carcinoma.

Although some keratoacanthomas may regress on their own, they can’t be safely distinguished from skin cancers without histopathology.
That’s why surgical excision remains the gold standard for diagnosis and management.

If you notice a new, fast-growing lump or spot, book a professional skin check — early assessment makes all the difference.
