Hard times carry their own weather.

Sometimes they arrive as heaviness. Sometimes as heat, restlessness or a mind filled with wind.

And sometimes, as it has for me lately, they arrive as water.

In elemental practice, balance does not necessarily mean reducing the element that is most present. It can mean noticing what the other elements might offer alongside it.

Fire can offer warmth when the water feels cold.

Earth can offer weight, boundaries and something steady beneath our feet.

Air can create a little space around the emotion and remind us to breathe.

And water can still be water.

It can rise, fall, trickle, roar and move through us without becoming something we need to fix.

This is one of the ways I work with magic during difficult seasons. Not as a way to escape what is happening, but as a way to remain in relationship with myself while I move through it.

If you are feeling watery too, you might light a candle, wrap both hands around something warm, place your feet firmly on the earth and let yourself feel what is here.

The intention is not to stop the tide.

It is to offer yourself somewhere safe and steady from which to meet it. 🌊🕯️🌿

You are allowed to let go of the practices that feel like another task to complete.

The morning routine you keep trying to perfect.
The journalling prompts that leave you staring at an empty page.
The spiritual practice everyone else seems to love, but you quietly dread.

It doesn’t mean you aren’t committed to yourself.

It may simply mean that particular practice isn’t yours.

Our rituals are meant to deepen our relationship with ourselves, not become another way to measure whether we are doing life well enough.

The practices that truly belong to us tend to carry a small spark of recognition. They settle something within us. They nourish us, light us up or help us hear ourselves more clearly.

And because they feel like ours, we naturally return to them.

So instead of asking, “What should I be doing?” try asking:

“What do I genuinely want to return to?” 🌿

Let your rhythm grow from there.
