There’s something deeply comforting about waking up to a warm, nourishing bowl of congee on a cold winter morning.
Congee is a slow-cooked rice porridge that is gentle on the digestive system and can be adapted with different ingredients to suit your needs. Try it savoury with miso and seeds, sweet with stewed fruit, or explore warming combinations such as ginger, red dates, cinnamon and cardamom.
In this blog, I share a basic congee recipe along with several variations—including my favourite Winter Warming Congee.
