Healthy eating doesn't have to start with another diet.

When Nasreen first reached out, she was stuck in the cycle of "I'll start tomorrow."

Today, she describes mindful eating as "the gift that keeps on giving."

If you're feeling tired of starting over, I have a free guide, 5 Steps Towards A New Way of Eating, which is the perfect place to begin.

Inside you'll discover:
🌿 Why healthy eating is about more than food – and why willpower isn't the answer.
🌿 A different way to think about eating that feels realistic and sustainable.
🌿 Simple first steps to help you build healthier eating habits without strict rules or guilt.

Sometimes one small step is all it takes to begin seeing food differently.

For a few years, Nasreen found herself gaining and losing the same 10 kilograms.

Like many women, she kept telling herself, “I’ll get back on track tomorrow.”

But as she moved through perimenopause, healthy eating became about much more than weight.

She started thinking about her future health, her energy, and whether the cycle of starting over could continue.

That moment of asking for support became the beginning of a completely different relationship with food.

If you’ve ever felt stuck between knowing what to do and actually being able to do it, I think you’ll relate to Nasreen’s story.

Before most meals, I like to pause.

Not because I’m trying to control what I eat.

But because life is often busy, my mind is already thinking about the next task, and I know that if I rush into a meal, I’m less likely to be mindful.

Sometimes that means I don’t notice when I’m satisfied.

Sometimes I don’t eat enough.

Sometimes I eat more than I need.

And sometimes I simply don’t enjoy my meal—or I end up with indigestion because I never really slowed down.

That small pause helps me arrive at the table.

It’s a simple mindful eating practice that reminds me to notice how I’m feeling, tune into my body, and give myself the opportunity to enjoy the meal in front of me.

It isn’t about getting eating “right.”

It’s about creating the space to nourish yourself.

🎧 In the latest Eating for You Podcast, I share why pausing before you eat can be one of the first steps towards understanding your eating habits and creating lasting change.

Many women think mindful eating is about changing how they eat straight away.

It's not.

One of the first practices I teach my clients is simply to pause before eating.

Not to stop themselves eating.
Not to judge themselves.
Not to make the "perfect" food choice.

Just to become curious.

When you pause, you begin to notice what's driving your eating.

Are you hungry? Tired? Stressed? Looking for a break? Eating out of habit?

That awareness is where lasting change begins.

Because until we understand why we're eating, it's very difficult to know what needs to change.

If you've been trying to change your eating with more rules and more willpower, perhaps this week your only goal is to pause... and notice.

🎙️ Listen to the latest episode of the Eating for You Podcast to discover why this simple mindful eating practice can be the first step towards healthier eating habits that last.

Three women.

The same eating habit.

A block of chocolate after dinner.

From the outside, it looks exactly the same.

But here’s what I’ve learned after working with women for more than 30 years...

The first woman is genuinely hungry because her meals aren’t keeping her satisfied.

The second reaches for chocolate because it’s become her reward after a long, stressful day.

The third simply loves sharing a few squares with her partner while they unwind together.

Same food.

Same time of day.

Completely different reasons for eating.

So why would the solution be the same?

This is why I don’t believe in giving every woman the same eating plan or another set of food rules.

Before we try to change an eating habit, we need to understand what’s driving it.

Because when we understand why we’re eating, we can find a solution that truly nourishes us.

🎧 In this week’s Eating for You Podcast, I explain why pausing before you eat can help you begin understanding your eating habits, and why lasting change starts with curiosity—not another rule.

Have you ever found yourself standing in the kitchen thinking... "Why am I eating?"

Not because you're hungry.

But because something is pulling you towards food.

So often we assume the answer is a lack of willpower.

In reality, there are many reasons we eat besides hunger.
Stress.
Habit.
Body image.
Convenience.

The desire to feel good.

The belief we should eat a certain way.

Understanding what's driving your eating is one of the most important steps towards building healthier eating habits that last.

That's why I've created a new guide:
Why Am I Eating? Discover the 9 Drivers That Shape Your Eating Habits.

It's designed to help you look beyond food and begin understanding the motivations behind your eating—without guilt, judgement or another list of food rules.

🌿 Read the guide on my blog and discover why understanding why you eat can be more powerful than focusing only on what you eat.

Most women don’t struggle to change their eating because they lack willpower.

They struggle because they’re trying to change a habit before they understand what’s driving it.

That’s why one of the first mindful eating practices I teach is to pause before you eat.

Simple?

Yes.

Easy?

Not always.

Many of my clients tell me they forget to pause, don’t know what they’re noticing, or feel frustrated because they already know they eat when they’re stressed or tired.

But here’s the important part...

Knowing why you’re eating doesn’t automatically tell you how to change what’s driving it.

If stress, exhaustion, body image, habit or years of dieting are influencing your eating, recognising the pattern is just the beginning.

Understanding those patterns—and knowing which changes will actually help—is often where personalised support makes all the difference.

🎙In this week’s episode of the Eating for You Podcast, I explain why pausing is such a powerful mindful eating practice, why it can feel surprisingly difficult at first, and why understanding your eating is the first step towards creating healthy eating habits that truly last.

Travelling is one of the times women often tell me they’ve “fallen off the wagon.”

But what if there wasn’t a wagon to fall off?

When you’re travelling, you won’t always have access to your usual foods or routines—and that’s okay.

Healthy eating isn’t about finding the perfect meal.

It’s about asking yourself,

“What choice will nourish me best from what’s available right now?”

Some meals will be more nourishing than others.

Some days you’ll have more variety than others.

The important thing isn’t trying to make every meal perfect.

It’s making the best choice you can in that moment, then returning to your usual way of eating when it’s next possible.

That’s what sustainable healthy eating looks like.

Not perfection.

Just your next nourishing choice.

💚 Healthy eating needs to fit your real life—including holidays, work trips and weekends away.

One of my clients shared something in a group coaching session that has stayed with me for years because of the impact it had on the other ladies.

She said,
"Every day, I try to do one thing for myself."

Some days that meant going for a walk.
Other days it meant working on one eating habit.
Sometimes it was simply taking a few quiet minutes to sit down and enjoy her meal.

She wasn't trying to change everything at once. She wasn't waiting until Monday or aiming for perfection.

She was simply choosing to do something.

That one shift changed everything.

So many women believe healthy eating only counts if they follow every rule, every day.

But lasting habits aren't built through perfection—they're built through the small choices we continue to make, even when life is busy or things don't go to plan.

Because doing something will always move you further forward than doing nothing while waiting for the perfect time to begin.

🎙️ In this week's Eating for You Podcast, I'm talking about why all-or-nothing thinking keeps so many women stuck in the cycle of starting over—and how a different way of thinking can help you create healthy eating habits that last.

I'd love you to listen.
