🌿 The Prison of Fear — And the Key I Held All Along
Have you ever been so busy being everything to everyone that somewhere along the way, you forgot to be yourself?
For much of my life, I lived imprisoned by fear.
Fear of not being enough, disappointing others and losing myself while trying to live up to everyone else’s expectations.
Past experiences and unresolved emotional wounds had created invisible barriers that caused me so much heartache.
I became the dependable one. The caregiver. The one who nurtured and held everything together.
Yet every time I nurtured someone, I questioned my own worthiness. Every time I shared my gifts, I doubted my ability.
I could see the beauty and worth in everyone else, yet struggled to recognise my own.
And somewhere along the way, I began losing the creative, adventurous woman who once believed life was full of possibilities.
The heartbreaking realisation?
I had been holding the key to my own prison all along.
But I was too afraid to unlock the door.
Because sometimes the familiarity of our pain feels safer than the uncertainty of freedom.
Recently, during a deeply personal four-day journey of reflection, breathwork and surrender, something within me shifted.
I finally found the courage to turn the key.
Not because my past had disappeared, but because I no longer wanted fear to determine my future.
I’m learning to honour my gifts, embrace my authenticity, create without judgement and love others without losing myself.
To trust God with the unknown and recognise that my worth was never something I needed to earn.
Fear may still visit me, but I no longer choose to give it the key to my life.
And to the woman reading this who recognises herself in my story…
Perhaps you’ve been holding your own key all along.
You were never meant to lose yourself in the process of loving others.
You were always enough. ❤️
With love, faith and gratitude,
