The Footcare Clinic

The Footcare Clinic The Footcare Clinic, Keysborough's first private podiatry practice since 1998, provides warm, family-like care where all clients feel valued.

We embrace diversity and focus on creating joyful experiences while helping you achieve your health goals. The Footcare Clinic was established in 1998. Kim started the business in a humble little room within a Chiropractor's building on Kingsclere Avenue. In 2000, Kim moved the clinic to its current location as the business required more space. Clients still fondly remember coming through the rear

sliding door for their consultations. As the business continued to grow and the variety of services on offer expanded, Kim made the decision to convert her home/office into a full multidisplinary clinic in 2003. We're proud to have been serving the local residents of Keysborough and surrounding suburbs for 20 years. We love nothing more than to help everyone move well and feel great, so they can get back to doing what they love and enjoy.

Who else can relate? πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

As a clinician, when a mate or a client sends a foot pic, you want to diagnose it on the spot and help them out.

But a photo may only show what a problem looks like whereas an in-person exam lets us feel, move, and test the foot to find out what it actually is.

Google's great with pictures, we're great with the real thing, in the chair. πŸ˜‚πŸ¦Ά

πŸ‘£ Ever wondered why corns form between or on the tips of your toes?

It usually comes down to pressure and friction, toes rubbing against each other, or against the inside of your shoe. Over time, the skin thickens to protect itself, and that's the corn you feel.

One way we treat it: a custom device moulded from Otoform putty, shaped to gently realign the toe and take the pressure off the area causing the problem - not just easing the pain, but addressing what's causing it in the first place.

Safety boots protect you on the job, but they can also be a hidden cause of foot and ankle pain. Between the extra weight, limited arch support, and hours spent on hard concrete floors, it's easy to end up with overuse injuries like plantar fasciitis or heel pain. Our blog breaks down why this happens and what you can do about it.

If your work boots have been leaving your feet sore by the end of the day, this one's worth a read πŸ‘‡

Work safety boots are essential for every manual labor job in Australia, and play a large role in protecting you from virtually every occupational hazard.

It's been one week into my trip back to Malaysia to revisit the refugee camp. Here's a quick update...

I tracked down the refugee identity cards for Mum and myself at the Malaysian Red Crescent Society archives in KL. A very special moment. A few days later we made it to Pulau Bidong, the island that housed Vietnamese boat refugees. Most of the infrastructure is gone, but the cemetery, church, and Buddhist temple statues still remain. Mum and I even found our first place of residence up on the hill, Zone F, where the brick support pillars were still there, now reclaimed by nature (and lots of hungry mosquitoes!).

The island today is a paradise for snorkellers and scuba divers, with crystal clear water and rich marine life everywhere. We stayed 2 nights to get a taste of what it was like, and the heat and mosquitoes were unbearable for a few in our group. Not sure how Mum and I, and everyone else, survived it for so long back then.

Hey everyone, thought I'd share something a little more personal today. I'll be stepping away from the clinic for the next two weeks, and after opening up to a few clients about the reason why, I realised it's a part of my story worth sharing here too.

I'm a proud Vietnamese boat refugee who arrived in Australia with my widowed mum in 1983, 43 years ago now. Over the next two weeks, I'll be taking my mum and our family back to Pulau Bidong, Malaysia, the refugee camp where we lived for two years while waiting for our application to be accepted somewhere, anywhere.

It's going to be an emotional trip, but it will be one of the most meaningful ones I'll ever make. I'll share a few snippets along the way, as I know some of you are keen to learn a little more about my journey to Australia.

Here's the only picture I have from my time on the island, it was my first communion. Not sure why no one's smiling! Apart from my mum, I don't actually know anyone else in this photo, as we lost contact with everyone when we left the island for Australia.

Stay tuned for updates as I embark on the return to where it all began.
