Today, on R U OK? Day, we’re thinking of the families we’ve supported following a su***de—families left carrying profound grief, unanswered questions and so many what ifs.

Su***de has touched our work deeply. Behind every statistic is a person who was loved, and a circle of people whose lives changed forever.

In the first 11 months of 2024 alone, 883 people in NSW were suspected to have died by su***de. Across Australia, su***de remains the leading cause of premature death. ABS, 2024⁠

There are beautiful biodegradable coffins made from wicker, willow, cardboard and other natural fibres.

So what makes mycelium different?

It isn’t simply that it biodegrades.

Mycelium is the living network of fine fungal threads beneath our feet — one of nature’s great decomposers.

And that’s what makes the Loop Living Cocoon™ so unusual.

Its structural material originates from a decomposer organism.

Rather than simply being something that nature can eventually break down, mycelium belongs to the biological system responsible for decomposition itself — helping organic matter return to natural cycles.
