Your squat variation is changing your force output more than you think 🏋️

We ran a simple experiment. Same lifter, same 80kg on the bar, four different squat setups. The force plate did the rest.

Peak force recorded:

Low Bar Back Squat: 2169N
Front Squat: 2132N
High Bar Back Squat: 2307N
Smith Machine at 136kg: 2405N

The high bar came out on top of the barbell variations. A more upright trunk keeps the load closer to your centre of mass and drives the demand through the quads, some of the most powerful muscles in the lower body. Shift the bar back or forward and you shift the lever, the muscle demand, and the force output with it.

Worth noting, these results reflect one lifter. Limb lengths and individual leverages heavily influence force production, and your numbers will tell a different story. This is a snapshot, not a universal ranking.
