Bunions- one of the most common foot deformities we see in clinic, let’s break down a few facts about about bunions 🦶
1. Bunions are a sign of lower limb malalignment- its origin can be completely hereditary or caused by longstanding wear or narrow shoes and high heels.👠 other causes and contributing factors such as arthritis can exacerbate the issue.
2. They are treatable with the right approach if there is pain involved. If bunions are asymptomatic, treatment course may look different because it then becomes a more “aesthetic” issue for some.
3. Don’t delay treatment if you have a painful bunion, an initial assessment is necessary to discuss goals for treatment, expectations and outcomes.
