My day started early at the BPW breakfast 🍳 It was lovely seeing certificates given out for long term members and of cause I caught up with a couple friends.
Then this afternoon I spent the afternoon at Great Northern Garden of Remembrance for a Service for a lovely gentleman who would have been 102 years old today 🥰🥰🥰

When I entered the Inspire Awards 2026 they posed the following question!

“What inspired you to pursue your current career or venture?

💞This was my answer💞

When I got my job in April 2000, I was just looking for a job that paid me money. Joining the funeral industry with no industry background was a very serendipitous moment. “Something you find while looking for something else.”
I still remember the first day arriving at work and walking over the small bridge that lead to the office stopping and looking out over the rose gardens I felt I was finally home.
I love everything about honouring a person who has lived in this lifetime. I love hearing the story’s and being part of something special.
When I first became a Funeral Director I was very passionate about helping people in their hour of need often going the extra mile without pay working overtime to support them during their funeral journey.
Over the years I had many families return to the company asking for my service and support as I was thought of highly for my caring and compassion.
Funeral director don’t stay in the job because of the money it is something they do because it becomes a vocation. I had found where I belonged in the working world and believe that I was guided to this long before I knew it was meant to be. 💞

Yesterday, it bought home to me how important you have roadside assistance insurance. I was fortunate that the battery in my car died at home on a day I wasn’t heading out to see a family or go to a service.
My husband had noticed my car was getting a bit harder to start, he told me to call RACQ and have the battery replaced ASAP! But, did I take notice No.

Consequently, my car wouldn’t start in the morning and of course I needed roadside assistance to come and get me mobile again. I thank my lucky stars I didn’t have a service to get to. Or that I was stuck at someones house on the side of the road.

Our cars are part of our tools as Funeral Celebrants and we must take just as much care of our cars 🚗 as we do our families 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

It was a timely reminder to me to me that is why I pay my roadside assistance insurance every year 💞🙏🏼💞

The years pass but the memories stay 💕
