I spent 9 years working for the Education Department in different schools.
Firstly as a Creative Gardener, then as Education Support, Teachers Aide and Intergration Aide.
When the same students were 'kicked out ' of their class, I saw them. I understood them.
They needed genuine care, connection and and to be taught in a different way to the curriculum.
I always said hello to these kiddos.
I made sure I acknowledged their existence and gave them positive kind words of encouragement.
I was those kiddos.
Misunderstood, a write off, waste of time, not concentrating, too much, emotionally disregulated.
I still think about the kiddos at the 'naughty table'.
I hope they found their place, worth and connection.

Friday Flashback to a few years ago when I decided to take my old, late diagnosed ADHD/ Autistic self off to Tafe.
It was challenging. I advocated for myself, and some of the ladies in the class who's first language wasnt English.
I needed clarification, differently worded explanations and the encouragement of my two amazing teachers.
I graduated, and took my teachers on stage with me in my gown because this was their achievement to.
My old, Neuordivergent self did it.
Don't ever let anyone tell you, you're too old, not smart enough or not to waste your time.
I never sit on the side of the pool in life...
I jump in, making a big splash, wearing a pink bikini 👙 and never worried about what anyone else thinks.
