Today, on Aged Care Employee Day, we celebrate the incredible people who make Carinya feel like home.

We'd love our community to join us in celebrating our amazing team. If one of our staff members has made a difference to you or your loved one, please leave a message of thanks or appreciation in the comments below. Your kind words mean so much and will be shared with our team throughout the day.

Every day, our team provides compassionate care, dignity, comfort and companionship to our residents. Pyjamas, plenty of laughs, and a whole lot of heart! 💙

Last week our staff and residents embraced National Pyjama Day in style, helping raise awareness and support for children in foster care through The Pyjama Foundation.

From Harry Potter to Hello Kitty, Bluey to Cars and an absolute fruit loop - there were some incredible outfits, plenty of smiles, and even a few runway-worthy struts!

Thank you to everyone who dressed up, donated and helped make the day another wonderful Carinya memory 💙

A Gift That Will Live On at Carinya 💚🎨

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming back a very special member of the Carinya family, Lyn Jansen.

Since her parents, Maurice and Shirley, moved to Carinya in 2021, Lyn has generously volunteered her time caring for our gardens and courtyards, helping create the beautiful spaces our residents enjoy every day.

Lyn's generosity continues as she donated these two stunning original artworks, which will be proudly displayed and enjoyed by our community for years to come.

On behalf of our residents, families and staff, we were honoured to present Lyn with a small gift as a thank you for everything she has done for Carinya.

🌈✨ What a fabulous afternoon at Carinya! ✨🌈

Friday we welcomed the incomparable Brenda Bressed from back to Carinya for the third year running as part of our Pride Month celebrations.

With plenty of laughs, music, colour and sparkle, Brenda once again brought joy, entertainment and a few cheeky moments to residents, families, volunteers and staff alike.

At Carinya, Pride Month is an opportunity to celebrate diversity, inclusion, authenticity and the right for everyone to be themselves. Today's performance was a wonderful reminder that connection, laughter and acceptance have no age limit.

A huge thank you to Brenda for sharing her talent, energy and warmth with us once again. We are already looking forward to next year! 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️

✈️☁️ CARINYA INTERNATIONAL AIRSHOW ☁️✈️

All aboard Flight CL2026 to Cloud Nine!

Residents received their boarding passes before joining our Carinya Airways flight crew for an afternoon of creativity, laughter and friendly competition.

Together we folded and decorated paper aircraft, shared memories of holidays and flying, sang along to classics from Frank Sinatra and Vera Lynn, and enjoyed a hilarious in-flight safety demonstration from our ground crew and Commander Good Times.

The highlight of the afternoon was our Carinya International Airshow, where residents put their aircraft through their paces in a series of take-offs, emergency landings and impressive flights across the room!

Thank you for flying with Carinya Airways. We hope you enjoyed your journey to Cloud Nine! ✈️💙

👑 Kings, Queens and a Few Pretenders to the Throne! 👑

Last Thursday we celebrated the King's Birthday in true Carinya style. We learned about monarchs throughout history, sang Rule Britannia and God Save the King, then crowned just about everyone who was willing to sit still long enough! 👑😂

Judging by these photos, we may have found a few future monarchs among our residents and staff.

A reminder that Reception is closed today for the King's Birthday public holiday.

What a special afternoon with the Korumburra Scouts and Joeys!

Today was one of those afternoons that reminds us just how powerful community connections can be.

Our residents proudly performed the dance they have been practising to This Is Me from The Greatest Showman alongside members of the Korumburra Scouts and Joeys. There were smiles, laughter, a few happy tears, and plenty of cheering as everyone came together for a truly uplifting performance.

A particularly touching moment came when two Joey Scouts were presented with their scarves and proudly recited their Scout Promise. For many, it was a lovely ceremony, but it held extra significance for one of our residents who was once a Scout Master himself. Watching the next generation take their first steps in Scouting was a special moment to witness.

Of course, the afternoon wasn't finished there! The room quickly shifted gears as residents, Scouts, Joeys and leaders joined together for a raucous and highly competitive game of SCUDS before tea. The noise level may have risen considerably, but so did the fun.

Thank you to everyone from Korumburra Scouts who spent the afternoon with us. The connections formed between young and old are something truly special, and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

This past week at Carinya, residents have been engaging in meaningful reflection, creativity and connection as we acknowledge National Reconciliation Week.

Our cultural display wall has helped spark conversation and learning throughout the week, while today’s special session, “Reconciliation Week: Caring for Country – A Sensory Journey,” invited residents to experience Aboriginal culture through storytelling, touch, smell, taste, art and music.

Together we explored the meaning of Reconciliation Week, the significance of the dates that shape it, and the importance of recognising and respecting the world’s oldest continuous living cultures.

Residents experienced native bush foods and botanicals including lemon myrtle, cinnamon myrtle, aniseed myrtle, native thyme, native mountain, wattleseed cake and even sweet 'witchetty grubs' for the adventurous!

The session included art, music, rhythm and shared reflection — a reminder that culture is not only something we learn about, but something we can connect with through experience, conversation and community.

At Carinya, we are proud to create opportunities for learning, inclusion and meaningful cultural connection.
