Today is International FASD Awareness Day
Every year, on 09/09 (representing the 9 months of pregnancy), we raise awareness about FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) and how we can prevent it. FASD can happen when a bub is exposed to alcohol during pregnancy. Its effects last for life and unfortunately, there’s no cure. It’s an important health topic that can be uncomfortable to discuss, but raising awareness doesn't have to be heavy.

When it comes to keeping our future generations strong, zero alcohol is the safest choice. There is no known safe amount or safe time to drink alcohol during pregnancy, which is why we say NoGrogFor9months.

It takes a whole community to grow a healthy, StrongBorn bub, and it all starts when we drop the shame and have an open yarn together. Supporting an alcohol-free journey isn't just up to the mums. Our partners, aunties, uncles, cousins, and mates can all play a massive part by keeping the support strong and making sure there are great mocktail options at the next family gathering.

So today, dust off your favourite red sneakers, boots, or socks, snap a quick photo for social media, and when people ask "Why the red shoes?", it’s your chance to chat about FASD.
Let’s remove the stigma and step up for our next generation!

If you or a loved one are pregnant or planning a baby, don’t be shame. Come down to have a yarn with the midwife (or see the midwife wherever you’re located) for a friendly, confidential chat.

For more information about FASD, kindly call Tejirhi @ 08 9166 2245

What a fantastic morning at the OVAHS Men's Clinic Fathers BBQ, with more than 30 men joining us to connect and celebrate!

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, as well as the community groups and organisations that came along to support the event. It was wonderful to see people sharing stories, building connections, having meaningful conversations, and encouraging one another to continue making positive changes in their lives and communities.

We look forward to the next BBQ and another opportunity to come together, support each other, and strengthen our community.
