Transpersonal Coaching/Therapy, online and in person at Richmond on Tuesdays.

An alternative to psychology.

A somatic (body based) approach.

Specialising in support to manage trauma, anxiety and depression.

An opportunity to develop practical skills to support yourself and change your mind.

Transpersonal Coaching is a wholistic approach that incorporates Open Awareness to gain perspective in the here and now. Releasing the bonds of past wounds and imagined futures that don’t serve you.

Transformation so that pain points are integrated rather than resisted.

I completed the requirements for my Master of Science in Consciousness, Spirituality and Transpersonal Psychology about a month ago. since then I’ve been in recovery mode. It was quite exhausting. I needed a little break but am now ready to share the findings of my research with you. A requirement of the Research Dissertation was a 1,000 word blog post. I have posted that on my website and share the beginning of it with you below, you can read the full blog on my website. If you are interested in the full dissertation please let me know and I’ll send you a link. 😊

Losing a loved one: reconciling the shadow of rationality

Long before the modern, rational, materialist era, there was an age of reverence. It was a time when we honoured the feminine, the unseen dimensions of life, and our sacred connection to the earth. People lived in harmony with the shifting seasons, the cosmos, and the natural rhythms of birth, decay, and rebirth.

Anne Baring’s search for the roots of human suffering led her deep into the past, to a period around 4,000 years ago when, she argues, humanity underwent a profound shift—from what she calls the Great Mother to the Great Father. This new “solar age” was the era commonly associated with the rise of civilization. But at what cost? From this point onward, qualities and values associated with the Great Mother were increasingly diminished and devalued. This included death as a natural part of life.

The defining characteristics of Baring’s “solar age” find a parallel in Iain McGilchrist’s work on the historical imbalance between the brain’s two hemispheres. McGilchrist argues that Western culture has increasingly privileged the left hemisphere, with its narrow, focused perspective that seeks certainty through reason, rules, and analysis.
The lesser-used right hemisphere offers a more wholistic view. It is attuned to context, ambiguity, emotion, the unconscious and recognises death as part of the fabric of life. Death is the ultimate challenge to the left hemisphere’s need for control, and therefore it becomes taboo.

Rose tried hard. She longed to be accepted and appreciated. Ever since she was very young, she could sense other people’s dismissal or rejection of her. She would notice a subtle tightening in their bodies, a turned or dropped head, a silence, or a change of subject. This hurt her. She was good at reading others, so she started “adjusting” to meet their requirements. She became a chameleon, morphing herself depending on the circumstances. It was exhausting, but her longing for acceptance was compelling.

Over time, she was living almost entirely outside of herself. She had done this for so long that when she finally decided to find her way home, she didn’t know where to start. She found that coming back to her body, and deeply listening, really helped. By paying attention to what she actually needed, little by little, she found her way back. Gradually, she started to hear the song of her own heart again, and life began to change.

This story is a reflection of common humanity. It’s not everyone’s story, but I have worked with many people who have traveled this path. Can you relate? There is a way home. Your heart song never goes away; it waits patiently for your attention.

If you’d like support finding your way back to you, that is what I do. Through Transpersonal Coaching and Therapy, we can combine meditation and breathwork to return to wholeness. I offer a non-pathologising, trauma-informed space working in the here and now.

I want to share an opportunity to watch a beautiful and confronting documentary called Sila. Filmed in Greenland, it explores the deep impacts of colonisation on Inuit communities and shows how we have lost connection with the life force that exists within everything and connects us all. You can watch it for free or for a small donation if you can afford it.

Taking some time out to reacquaint with the space in between thoughts, activities and projects can be hard in our modern lives. A silent retreat is a beautiful way to do just that.

Coming up at the end of August, I’m hosting my teacher Fuyuko Sawamura-Toyota to offer a five day silent retreat in Sydney.

This could be the opportunity to touch back in to that which connects us all, can never be broken and is always steady and reliable. Not anything new just something that you need to remember. All in all serene and comfortable environment.
