Kyabram Regional Clinic was established approximately 40 years ago in Union Street with one GP. There have been several moves and renovations over the past years to accommodate a growing practice, until finally reaching our current location at 98 Fenaughty St, Kyabram. Our practice consists of 6 full-time GP’s and 4 part time GP’s. Administration staff consists of 4 full-time and 7 part-time recep

tionists. Our nursing department has 1 full-time and 3 part-time practice nurses. This is a busy rural general practice in which all GP’s do procedural work and we have a big local hospital commitment. We have two satellite clinics in the surrounding towns of Tongala and Stanhope. Patients are able to mark appointments for Tongala through our clinic or at Tongala when it is open. The Stanhope clinic is part of the Community Health Centre; Kyabram staff will make appointments for Stanhope.

It’s RSV Awareness Week.

This week we’re highlighting that RSV (or respiratory syncytial virus) is not just
a childhood virus.

For some older people, RSV can lead to pneumonia and the worsening of existing health conditions,
resulting in hospital admissions and a sudden decline in health.

The good news is that free RSV vaccination is now available through the National Immunisation
Program for adults aged 75 years and over, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 60 years and over. (Limited stock available)

People who are not eligible for the free program may still be able to access RSV vaccination on private prescription. This includes adults aged over 60, and adults aged over 50 with medical conditions that increase their risk of severe RSV.

This RSV Awareness Week, speak with your doctor, pharmacist, or immunisation provider about RSV
protection.

Don’t go unprotected.

Winter is approaching, and with it comes a higher risk of colds, flu, and other respiratory illnesses.

Here are some simple steps you can take to help minimise getting sick this season:
• Stay up to date with your vaccinations, including your annual flu shot and COVID-19 boosters if eligible.
• Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, or use hand sanitiser when washing isn’t possible.
• Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth.
• Cover coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue, and dispose of tissues promptly.
• Stay home if you’re feeling unwell to prevent spreading illness to others.
• Keep indoor spaces well ventilated by opening windows or improving airflow where possible.
• Maintain a healthy lifestyle with good nutrition, regular exercise, adequate sleep, and hydration.
• Consider wearing a mask in crowded indoor settings, especially if you’re at higher risk.

Small actions can make a big difference in protecting yourself and your community this winter. Stay well!
