We’ve got our new clinic location. These are the before shots. It has been a huge weekend of internal works - builders have been doing their thing and Marcus’s baby smooth, piano hands have finally been exposed to proper labour. Can’t wait to show you all the finished product!
Edit: before shots don’t really show just how much work we need to do to turn an old hairdressing/beauty salon into a psychology clinic.

Please sign the petition, which ends on Jan 5th, to challenge the reduction of Medicare ’Better Access’ (ironically named) scheme from 20 appointments to 10 appointments per 12-month period.

The wider community should be aware of the changes to the Medicare Better Access system that come into affect tomorrow.

The Albanese Government has gone ahead with the decision to halve the number of available appointment from 20 back to 10 per 12 months.

More alarmingly (if I understand correctly), anyone who was using those additional 10 appointments will lose any unused appointments as of Jan 1st (happy to be corrected on this if I am wrong).

Whilst I would like to think most of us psychologists try to work with people to find solutions to their issues within the 10 allocated appointments, this has become far more challenging in recent years. I am deeply concerned with the impact on clients with complex issues.

In my opinion, more, not less needs to be invested, including reducing the university fees for Master courses in Psychology, and increasing the rebate to make psychology more affordable to low income or rural people. Please make a noise about this issue.

To my current clients, I will be in touch in the coming week or so to discuss how this impacts you. Please be patient with me, as a sole practitioner, I am already overwhelmed with trying to support clients, let alone administrating this issue.
