📣 Our next outreach location is … Cann River !

We have been blown away by the interest and support we’ve received during the planning phase of this trip and are organising TWO days as part of our first trip! 💚

We will be visiting Cann Valley Bush Nursing Centre to provide the same quality appointments that we provide here in Lakes Entrance.
We will be offering all of our services, this includes hearing tests, hearing aid fittings, custom earplugs, microsuction wax removal and maintenance/optimisation of your current hearing aids.

If you suddenly notice a hearing loss in one or both ears, it can be alarming and upsetting.

It may be accompanied with other symptoms including dizziness (or vertigo), ringing in your ears (tinnitus) or feeling like your ear needs to pop.

These symptoms can appear similarly for:
❔An ear infection
❔A wax blockage
❔A sudden sensorineural hearing loss (sudden SNHL).

WHAT SHOULD I DO?
⏱️ Do not adopt a “wait and see” approach.
📞 Please call Lakes Audiology (or another nearby audiologist) to book an urgent hearing assessment.

WHY?
This situation could indicate a sudden SNHL, which can only be diagnosed via a comprehensive hearing test.

⏱️ Diagnosis as quickly as possible is critical.
If it is confirmed to be a sudden SNHL, you will need to see an ENT specialist and/or the Emergency Department of the nearest hospital as soon as possible for treatment.
👂🏻 Treatment approaches aim to reduce inflammation of the cochlea and improve the chances of hearing recovery. The sooner that treatment can start, the better the chances of recovery, ideally within the first 48 hours of symptom onset.

We understand the challenges of living and accessing healthcare in a remote community.
That's why we are committed to conducting regular outreach trips, closer to the homes of those who need it! 💚

We will be visiting Ensay Bush Nursing Centre to provide the same quality appointments that we provide here in Lakes Entrance.
We will be offering all of our services, these include hearing tests, hearing aid fittings, custom earplugs, microsuction wax removal and maintenance/optimisation of your current hearing aids.

We’ve already received a lot of enquires and we will be starting a waitlist for the next trip if you cannot make it this day. 🎧

A common complaint we hear relates to the feeling of blocked ears.

Conveniently, we provide microsuction earwax removal for adults!

Microsuction ear wax removal is a gentle and effective procedure to remove earwax without the use of water.
As with any medical procedure, there are potential risks, which your clinician will discuss with you and take steps to minimise based on your individual circumstances.

At Lakes Audiology, we stock a full range of BioRevive "Ears" products. These topical spray solutions assist with the normal functions of the ear.

🩷 Clean ears works to soften and remove ear wax. This is a safer alternative to cotton buds and easier to use than traditional ear drops.

🚨Important notice for hearing aid and/or cochlear implant users regarding tomorrows nationwide test of AusAlerts emergency warning system 🦻🚨

🚨 Important Notice for Hearing Aid & Cochlear Implant Users🚨

If you wear Bluetooth-enabled hearing aids or cochlear implants this is something you'll want to know.

On Monday, 27 July 2026 the Australian Government will conduct a nationwide test of the new AusAlert emergency warning system

🕑 Time:2:00 pm AEST (please check your local time if you're in a different Australian time zone).

During the test, compatible mobile phones will play a 10-second emergency alert siren If your hearing devices are connected to your phone via Bluetooth, the alert may stream directly into your hearing aids or cochlear implant processor, which could be unexpectedly loud or startling.

To avoid being caught by surprise, you may wish to:
🔹 Turn off Bluetooth on your phone around 10 minutes before the test so the alert plays through your phone's speaker instead.
🔹 If preferred, briefly remove your hearing aid(s) or cochlear implant processor just before the scheduled test time.

We're sharing this information so our hearing health community has plenty of notice and can prepare if needed.
