We’re looking at putting together an upcoming webinar focused on Functional Capacity Assessments for psychosocial diagnoses.

The session would cover the practical side of FCAs, including:

• How to ask the right questions during an assessment

• What information is actually important to explore

• How to link what you’re hearing to functional impact

• What to include (and what not to include) in your report

• How to write clear, appropriate and clinically useful recommendations

• Common mistakes we see in psychosocial FCA reports

The aim is to make it make sense! Whilst we never know what NDIS want or need, this training breaks down the functional impairment/s linked to psychosocial diagnoses and how to map out your report. This is for you if you’re newer to FCAs or want to build your confidence with psychosocial assessments.

“I just want to be able to walk to the letterbox and back.”

To many people, that might sound like a simple everyday task.

But for someone living with a psychosocial disability, it can feel overwhelming.

Thoughts like:
• What if people are watching me?
• What if someone talks to me?
• What if I panic?
• What if I’m judged?
• What if I can’t do it?

These thoughts aren’t a choice—they’re real, exhausting, and can stop someone from leaving the safety of their home.

This is where an Occupational Therapist can make a real difference.

We don’t simply encourage someone to “just do it.” We take the time to understand what’s driving those fears, break the goal down into manageable steps, develop practical strategies, build confidence, and support each person at their own pace.

Sometimes the goal isn’t really about the letterbox.

It’s about rebuilding independence.
Feeling safe.
Regaining confidence.
And being able to participate in everyday life again.

Because every small achievement is a step towards something much bigger.

Cullen & Co attended the OT Exchange in Brisbane this week!

The Exchange was a great place to learn, grow, and share knowledge. However the biggest and best take from our time was how beautiful OTs are. Each and every person we met was so willing to share their knowledge, tips, and even contact details if we ever needed to confirm, clarify, or question. What a generous and amazing profession we work in, where instead of competition there is a true and meaningful desire to help all of our kind!

Couldn’t think of a better team to travel with so Thankyou to the amazing team of OTs at Cullen & Co 🫶🏼🫶🏼

At Cullen & Co, we're proud to provide Occupational Therapy services for veterans and eligible members of the veteran community through the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA).

Our role as OTs is to help you live as independently, safely, and meaningfully as possible. This might include:

✔️ Fatigue and pain management strategies
✔️ Mental health support and routine building
