Your gut can tell you a lot about your health. 🩺

While occasional digestive discomfort can be common, symptoms that are persistent, recurring or unusual for you are worth discussing with your GP.

From ongoing bloating and abdominal discomfort to changes in bowel habits or frequent reflux, there can be many possible causes.

Your GP can help assess what’s going on and determine whether further investigation is needed.

If you’ve noticed a change in your gut health, don’t put off getting it checked.

Meet Dr Jawad Abidi 👋

After completing his GP registrar training earlier this year, Dr Abidi has continued on with the team at Langpark Health as one of our GPs.

In this video, Dr Abidi shares a little more about himself, his approach to general practice and what he enjoys about caring for his patients and the local community.

That cough that just won’t go away? It might be time to get it checked. 🩺

Coughs are incredibly common and often clear up on their own, particularly after a cold or respiratory infection. But if your cough has lasted more than a few weeks, keeps returning, is getting worse or is accompanied by other symptoms, it’s a good idea to speak with your GP.

There are many possible causes of a persistent cough, and your doctor can assess your symptoms and recommend the appropriate next steps.

Are you keeping up with your regular health checks? 🩺

The health checks recommended for you can change as you get older and your personal and family medical history can also play an important role.

From blood pressure and skin health to diabetes risk, vaccinations and cancer screening, regular check-ups can help you stay informed about your health and identify potential concerns early.

Not sure what you’re due for? Speak with your GP at Langpark Health about the checks and screenings that may be appropriate for you and your individual health needs.

Last week was Sleep Health Week 2026 | Explore your sleep. Transform your days.

This Sleep Health Week, we’re shining a light on something that plays a vital role in our overall health and wellbeing - sleep.

The 2026 theme, “Explore your sleep. Transform your days,” encourages us to take a closer look at our sleep patterns, understand what may be affecting our rest, and recognise the difference better sleep can make to everyday life.

Quality sleep can support our energy, concentration, mood, decision-making and overall health. Even small, practical changes to our sleep habits can make a meaningful difference. 💤

If you’re regularly struggling with sleep or it’s beginning to affect your quality of life, consider speaking with your GP for support and advice.

Learn more about Sleep Health Week through the Sleep Health Foundation.

💛 Loneliness Awareness Week | 3–9 August

Connection doesn't happen by accident, it happens through the small moments where we make room for one another.

This year's theme, "Make Room for Connection," reminds us that even simple acts of kindness can help someone feel seen, valued and less alone.

Whether it's checking in on a friend, inviting someone for a coffee, calling a family member or simply taking the time to listen, small gestures can have a big impact.

If you've been feeling lonely, please remember you're not alone. Reaching out to someone you trust or speaking with your GP is an important first step.

Support is available, and meaningful connection can make a real difference.

💙 Let's all make room for connection this week.

🧠 National Stroke Week reminds us that knowing the signs of stroke could save a life.

A stroke is a medical emergency, and every minute counts. Remember the F.A.S.T. test:

🔹 F – Face: Has their face drooped?🔹 A – Arms: Can they lift both arms?🔹 S – Speech: Is their speech slurred or difficult to understand?🔹 T – Time: If you notice any of these signs, call 000 immediately.

Stroke symptoms can also include sudden weakness or numbness, vision changes, dizziness, severe headache, difficulty swallowing, or loss of balance.

Even if symptoms disappear quickly, it could be a transient ischaemic attack (TIA) – an important warning sign that should never be ignored.

The sooner treatment begins, the greater the chance of reducing brain damage and improving recovery.

This National Stroke Week, take a moment to learn the signs. It could make all the difference. 💙
