Deep gratitude to our community for all the support and encouragement and feedback over the 15 years as we delivered much needed mental health services for our children, adults and families in our practice, founded in 2011.

For many of those years, (since 2012) we have supported our adults and families to build resilience and connection through client centred whole of lifespan clincial services - both privately and also under federally funded programmes called Short Term Psychological Interventions (STPI previously called ATAPS) it has been a privilege and honour to see the impact this work has had. Our team are grateful we have had the opportunity.

We continue to support our current clients and families - and for those under STPI your care will be supported right through your episode of care, and during the transition and into the continuum of care (CoC) service as needed, your clinician will discuss with you your options.

For now, your appointments remain as they are and we will support you to work on the best options for you or your families mental health care, including where suitable, working with the new providers and your referring GP to ensure continuity of care. Please contact our clinic if you have any questions or concerns.

MENTAL HEALTH | Primary Health Tasmania has selected experienced mental health service provider Wellways Australia to lead delivery of the new Connected Care - Mental Health service across Tasmania.

Together with Stride Mental Health and Clarity Health Care, Wellways will provide a range of free services to support adults with mild, moderate, or severe and complex mental illness.

Support will be available in person, by phone and online, including from urban hubs and through outreach to rural and remote areas. The multidisciplinary workforce will include psychologists, Aboriginal health workers, peer workers, mental health nurses and allied health workers.

Connected Care - Mental Health will allow people to move between different levels of care within a single service as their needs change, which means a simpler and more seamless care experience.

The service, which is funded by the Australian Government, is expected to be fully implemented from January 2027.

So grateful this centre is in Launceston - an hour + from NW improves access for the state inclusive of regional areas 😊

A new specialist eating disorder treatment centre has opened in Launceston, the first of its kind in Tasmania.

The Tasmanian Eating Disorder Service facility, takara narakupa, meaning “walking with kindness” in palawa kani, is located on Westbury Road and offers care for people with moderate to severe eating disorders, along with family support.

The $10 million project received $2.5 million from the federal government and $915,000 plus ongoing funding from the state government.

Health Minister Bridget Archer said the centre would provide evidence-based treatment close to home.

Tasmanian Eating Disorder Service state manager Anita Ryman said the service currently supports 365 clients across Tasmania.

The Launceston facility offers individual and group therapy programs, with a therapeutic kitchen central to treatment.

The Burnie Medicare Mental Health Centre offers a safe and supportive environment where adults aged 18 and over can access free, professional mental health support, with no need for a referral or appointment.
