Last night was something pretty special.

For the first time, I brought both of my DRUMETTES groups together for one big evening of rhythm, laughter and connection at The HUB.

Walking into the room and seeing everyone together was such a wonderful moment.

The energy was high from the very first beat.

The rhythms were powerful, the laughter was contagious, and the room was filled with encouragement, smiles and women simply enjoying being together. It really was THE best!

What I love most is that it was never about playing perfectly.

It was about showing up, joining in and being part of something bigger than ourselves.

Watching two groups come together so effortlessly reminded me why I started DRUMETTES in the first place.

To create a space where women can connect, have fun, build confidence and experience the incredible joy that rhythm can bring.

I left last night with a very full heart.

Thank you, you fabulous women for bringing your energy, your laughter, your smile, and your willingness to simply have a go, for you are The DRUMETTES 🪘

I already can’t wait for the next one! 🧡

For our DRUMETTES who couldn’t make it … you were missed.

I've always loved sunflowers. There is just something about them that always brings a smile to my face.

Maybe it's their bright yellow petals, or the way they seem to bring a little light wherever they grow, or maybe it's simply the reminder that even after dark days, we naturally turn towards the light again.

I think we all have little things that quietly lift our spirits.

A favourite flower, a place in nature, a morning coffee, a song, a walk, and the people we love.

They're often the simplest things, but sometimes they're the things that help us feel most grounded.

For me ... it's sunflowers.

I'd love to know what's one simple thing that always brightens your day? 🧡

(I grew these beauties too).

Sometimes it's important not to take ourselves too seriously.

Yes, I spend some of my days supporting people through some really difficult moments, but there's also plenty of laughter at The HUB.

How does that happen?

Wellbeing isn't only found in the hard conversations, it's found in joy, in connection, and sometimes... in a little dance between sessions.

I hope you find a reason to smile today 🧡

One of the biggest myths about Mental Health First Aid training is that it teaches people to diagnose or act as therapists.

I'm here to say ... it doesn't.

Mental Health First Aid is about recognising the signs that someone might be struggling, having the confidence to start a conversation, listening without judgement, responding with empathy and support, and knowing how to encourage someone towards appropriate professional help when it's needed.

You don't need to have all the answers.

Sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do is let someone know they don't have to face things alone.

That's what Mental Health First Aid is really about.

It's powerful + impactful.

My last MHFA public training is 16/17 September in Ulverstone. Come + join me ... you can book below 👇🏾

Over the years, people have often asked me why I do so many different things.

🧡 Counselling
🧡 Yin Yoga
🧡 Drum Therapy
🧡 Mental Health training
🧡 Walk + Talk

On the surface, they can seem quite different. But to me, they've always been interwined by one simple idea, and that is helping people feel a little more connected.

Connected to themselves, to others, and to a sense of hope + optimism.

My hope has always been to create different pathways for people to find what they need, wherever they happen to be in life.

Some people begin with counselling, some discover yin yoga. Some find themselves smiling through a drumming session when they never imagined they would, while others find confidence through mental health training, or the simple act of walking side by side in nature.

There isn't a right doorway, just different paths that all lead towards the same thing.

CONNECTION.

It works like this ... when we feel connected, we begin to remember that we don't have to do life alone.

May you have points of connection this week that really feed your soul.

People sometimes ask me why I love teaching Yin Yoga so much.

For me, while improved flexibility is certainly one of the benefits, it has never been the only reason I teach Yin.

Yin creates space. Space to breathe, space to notice, space to soften, and perhaps most importantly, space to reconnect with ourselves.

One of the things you'll often hear me talk about in class is fascia, our body's incredible web of connective tissue.

When we slow down and spend time in longer-held, supported poses, we're gently working with this deeper connective tissue. As we move with care and awareness, we're also sending our nervous system the message that it's okay to slow down.

Every week I watch people arrive carrying work, family, responsibilities and all the things life asks of them.

Then something begins to shift.

Breathing slows, shoulders soften, and the room becomes quieter. Not because Yin makes life perfect, but because it offers something many of us don't experience enough.

Permission to simply BE.

To slow down rather than always doing, to notice what's happening in our body, our mind and our breath, and to reconnect with ourselves with a little more kindness and curiosity.

Sometimes, that's exactly where coming home begins.

What helps you slow down enough to hear yourself again? If you're in comfortable sharing, I'd love to hear 🧡

One of the things I've noticed through WALK + TALK is that conversations often unfold differently when we're moving.

There is something about walking side by side in nature that seems to ask less of us. We don't have to perform and we don't have to fill every silence, it's so good.

Sometimes we walk for a while before either of us says a word, and somehow ... thats okay (doesn't happen too often 🤣).

Fresh air, gentle movement, the sound of birds, the ducks, we always look for a platypus, and the rhythm of our footsteps.

Nature has a way of helping us slow down and reconnect, not because walking solves everything, but because sometimes taking one step at a time helps us hear ourselves a little more clearly.

It's one of the reasons I love WALK + TALK, because it's another way people can reconnect with themselves, with nature and with what matters most.

So, I'm wondering... where's a place that helps you slow down? 🧡

Watching this sunrise reminded me that nature has a rhythm. It slows, it rests, and begins again. Perhaps we're not so different?

One of the things I've learnt through my work, and in my own life, is that our bodies are often wiser than we give them credit for.

For many of us, it's easy to see tiredness as something to push through, stress as something to manage, tension as something to ignore, until one day our body quietly asks us to slow down.

I'm becoming much more interested in listening to those signals and it's not because I always get it right, but because I've come to understand that our body is often communicating with us long before our mind catches up.

It's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about counselling, yin yoga, drum therapy and helping people better understand the connection between mind and body.

Not because these things fix us, but because they create opportunities to slow down, to notice, to reconnect, and importantly, to come home to ourselves with a little more kindness and curiosity.

I'm wondering... what's one way your body lets you know it's asking you to slow down? 🧡

Sometimes people come to counselling because something big has happened.

But often, people come because somewhere along the way they realise... "I don't really feel like myself anymore."

Life can become about getting through, supporting everyone else, keeping things together, and doing what needs to be done. Slowly, without even noticing, we can lose connection with our own needs, feelings and values.

For me, counselling is about creating a space where someone can slow down.

Slowing down enough to be curious, to make sense of what's happening, and to reconnect with themselves, their strengths, values and hopes.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can experience is having a space where we don't need to perform, explain everything perfectly, or have it all figured out.

A space where we can come exactly as we are, because feeling heard and understood can be the beginning of finding our way back to ourselves.

As we move into the weekend my hope for you is that you can find a pocket of time for yourself 🧡

I took this photo because it made me stop for a moment.

Sometimes those small moments of noticing are exactly what bring us back into connection with ourselves.

One of the things I talk about often, both in counselling and yin yoga, is the relationship between our mind and body.

Our body is constantly communicating with us, whether that be tight shoulders, shallow breathing, a clenched jaw, a heaviness we can't quite explain, or maybe restlessness that keeps us moving.

Often these aren't things we need to fight against. They are signals, information. A gentle invitation to notice what might be happening beneath the surface.

So many of us have learnt to push through, to just keep going. To ignore the whispers until our body has to speak louder.

Coming back to ourselves often begins with rebuilding that relationship by learning to listen again, with curiosity, with kindness, and with compassion.

Our body isn't working against us, it's trying to communicate with us.

Maybe today, just pause for a moment and ask yourself ... 'What is my body trying to tell me?'
.. on a side note, I love the frangipani 🧡
