Somewhere along the way, women were sold the idea that our bodies should stay exactly the same forever.

The same weight.
The same shape.
The same skin.
The same energy.
The same libido.
The same everything.

But that’s not how bodies work.

Your body changes through puberty.
It changes through pregnancy.
It changes through stress.
It changes through illness.
It changes through motherhood.
It changes through perimenopause and menopause.
It changes simply because you’re alive.

Not every change needs to be “fixed.”
Not every wrinkle needs a treatment.
Not every kilogram needs a diet.
Not every symptom should be dismissed either.

Women’s health is about helping you feel well in your body, not helping you chase the body you had at 22.

Bodies are meant to evolve.
That’s not failure.
That’s biology.

Wake windows.

Despite what Instagram might have you believe or so called “baby sleep experts”, there is actually no strong scientific evidence that babies need to be put to sleep according to strict wake windows.

Babies aren’t robots. They don’t read sleep schedules. They don’t know they’re “supposed” to be asleep at 1 hour and 47 minutes.

Some babies will happily stay awake longer. Some will need sleep sooner. Some will do both on the same day.

What IS supported by evidence?
Watching your baby, not the clock.

Looking for cues such as disengagement, staring off, reduced activity, fussiness, rubbing eyes or seeking comfort is often far more useful than chasing the perfect wake window.

If wake windows are helping your family, great. But if you’re spending your day anxiously watching the clock and wondering why your baby didn’t get the memo, it’s okay to let that go.

Your baby is not broken.
And neither are you. ❤️

Women: I’m tired.

The internet: Have you tried magnesium?

Women: No, I mean tired.

The internet: It’s your cortisol.

Women: No, I mean really tired.

The internet: Hormones. Gut health. Red light therapy. A supplement stack worth $487.

Women: Or maybe…

…I’m working.

…raising children.

…looking after ageing parents.

…carrying the mental load.

…living through three economic crises.

…watching women’s healthcare become increasingly commercialised.

…and trying to navigate a healthcare system where Medicare rebates haven’t kept pace with reality.

Also, please check my iron.

The wellness industry has become very good at convincing women that they are broken.

That every symptom needs a supplement.
Every bad day needs a detox.
Every hormone needs “balancing.”

Sometimes the answer is a supplement.

Sometimes it’s medication.

Sometimes it’s movement, sleep, nutrition or therapy.

And sometimes it’s simply understanding that your body is doing exactly what bodies do.

Women don’t need to be fixed.

They need accurate information, evidence-based care, and healthcare professionals willing to listen. It’s finding the right healthcare team to help you sort science from sales pitch.

It’s a conversation.

A proper assessment.

And a plan that makes sense for them.

Sometimes it’s the little things that remind us why kindness matters so much. 💛

One of our beautiful Hobart patients surprised Eleanor with this enormous bunch of flowers this week after feeling so well cared for by our team. And honestly… it made the whole clinic smile.

Our admin team are often the first voice you hear on the phone, the first face you see when you walk through the door, and the people quietly juggling a million moving parts behind the scenes to help things run smoothly. They go above and beyond every single day because they genuinely care about our patients.

Gestures like this are never expected, but they are so deeply appreciated.

Thank you for making Eleanor feel so valued - and thank you to our incredible admin team for all the warmth, kindness and chaos coordination you bring to The Bubble every day. ✨

Love ya X

“Things we wish every new mother knew”

You do not need to “bounce back”.
Your relationship may feel different.
Your body may feel unfamiliar.
You may adore your baby and still feel overwhelmed.
You may google alarming things at 2am.
You may cry because you are tired.

None of this means you’re failing.

Postpartum is a huge physical, hormonal, emotional and identity shift.

You are doing an incredible job, mama.
Trust that gut instinct. Hold your baby. Feed them to sleep. Stuff that wake window. Go outside. Enjoy your baby. Let the rigid routines go. Protect your mental health. Experiment a little. If it’s not working for you and your family, try something else. Ignore advice that sounds like BS. You know what’s best for your baby.

Mama, you got this. X
