Last week, our team was proud to take part in the Homelessness Week - Walk to Raise Awareness.
It was wonderful to see so many community members, organisations and volunteers coming together to support people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.
Homelessness is not just about having a place to live. it's about people, connection, dignity and hope. Every person deserves the opportunity to feel safe, supported and valued.
Together, we can make a difference.

Connections start with making room for one another.

This Loneliness Awareness Week, we're encouraging everyone to take one small step towards connection - reach out, check in, invite someone along, or simply say hello.

If loneliness is affecting you or someone you care about, please know you're not alone. Support is available, and we're here to help.

Yesterday, our team had the privilege of attending the Homelessness Week Morning Tea at Launceston Town Hall, hosted by Nic Green and the team at CatholicCare Tasmania.
The event brought together organisations from across the housing, homelessness and community sectors to share information, strengthen partnerships, and discuss the challenges facing people experiencing homelessness in our community.
One of the most impactful moments was hearing Glenn and Tahlia courageously share their lived experiences of homelessness. Glenn's message was powerful reminder: don't give up, help is available, and never lose connection with the people who care about you.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please remember that support is available, you don't need to face it alone.

This National Homelessness Week, we acknowledge the many people in our community experiencing or at risk of homelessness, and recognise the importance of connection, compassion and accessible support.

Homelessness is about more than not having a roof over your head, it can affect mental health, wellbeing and a person's sense of connection and belonging.

At the Launceston Medicare Mental Health Centre, we're committed to providing a welcoming space where people can access free mental health support without a referral or appointment.

Together, we can help create a community where everyone feels supported.
