Leeton Shire Council will be celebrating NAIDOC Week (5-12 July 2026) across several facilities, providing a range of opportunities for the community to recognise and celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, in line with this year’s theme, ‘50 Years of Deadly’.

🚩 Council will host an official NAIDOC Flag Raising Ceremony in front of the Council building (23–25 Chelmsford Place, Leeton) on Friday, 3 July 2026, commencing at 10am. The event has been coordinated in close collaboration with the Leeton & District Local Aboriginal Land Council (LDLALC) and Parkview Public School.

🖼️ Following the ceremony, attendees are encouraged to visit the Leeton Museum and Art Gallery (LMAG) for morning tea. Community members are invited to walk through the exhibition spaces and participate in consultation activities that will help inform the development of Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan.

📖 A special NAIDOC‑themed Storytime will be held at the Leeton Shire Library on Wednesday 8 July at 10.30am, followed by themed brain games at 2pm.

🤳 A projection artwork celebrating First Nations culture and storytelling will also be displayed on the Leeton Water Tower.

🎨 The Out of School Hours Care / Vacation Care service will host a NAIDOC‑themed day featuring craft activities and damper making. For more information on the Vacation Care program, including costs and bookings, please contact 0447 854 340 or email [email protected].

👕 The Leeton Early Learning Centre will also recognise NAIDOC Week with themed programmed activities throughout the week. As part of the celebrations, the team will be wearing new shirts featuring Indigenous artwork created in recognition of NAIDOC Week 2026.

The Leeton Early Learning Centre has an opportunity for a Casual Early Childhood Educator to join the team.

⚒️ Applicants for this position will hold a Cert III in Children's Services (0-5 years). A current Working with Children’s Check is essential and a First Aid Certificate would be desirable

💼 The position will attract an hourly rate of pay of $37.89 per hour, which includes the applicable casual loading. 12% superannuation is applicable to this position

Applications are invited for a Certificate III or Diploma Qualified Early Childhood Educator to join the team at the Leeton Early Learning Centre on a full-time basis.

⚒️ Applicants for this position will hold a Cert III or Diploma in Children Services (0-5 years) and will have solid interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team

💼 The position will attract an hourly rate of pay of $31.38 to $36.96 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. 12% superannuation is applicable to this position

🗓️ The position is 76 hours per fortnight (part-time/job share may be considered)

The Leeton Early Learning Centre is seeking applications for the position of Early Childhood Teacher (0-5 years).

⚒️ A current ACECQA approved Early Childhood Teaching Degree qualification (or working towards this qualification), NSW Working with Children’s check and a First Aid Certificate (including Anaphylaxis and Asthma training) recognised under the Children Protection Act 1998 are essential

💼 The position is classified as within Levels 1 to 5 in Council's salary system (Splinter Award rates from Educational Services Teachers Award 2020) and will attract a salary in the range of $42.43 to $58.70 per hour plus 12% superannuation. However, if working toward a qualification, Council will negotiate an alternate rate of pay for the successful candidate

LELC is proudly showcasing our Sunrise Festival Easter display in the shop front at Spencer & Bennett

When you’re up the street, make sure you stop by and check out the Easter craft the children have created. The preschool rooms have also been busy designing their own colourful hot air balloons, and they look amazing!

Since the end of January, LELC has been on a journey to collect cans and bottles as part of our sustainability initiative! ♻️

The children, their families, and our staff have been donating cans and bottles to return through our local Return and Earn points.

We would now love to extend this initiative to our wider community!

LELC is accepting donations of eligible cans and bottles. All money raised through this program will go back into the service to purchase sustainable resources and learning experiences for the children.

If you have any cans or bottles you would like to donate, please get in contact with us and we can arrange a drop-off, or you are welcome to bring them to the centre.
