Today we celebrate Janmashtami, the birth anniversary of Bhagavan Krishna.

Sri Krishna’s message in the Bhagavad Gita is the perfect answer for the modern age, and any age: Yoga of dutiful action, of nonattachment, and of meditation for God-realization. To work without the inner peace of God is Hades; and to work with His joy ever bubbling through the soul is to carry a portable paradise within, wherever one goes.

SRF Sydney Centre’s September Services & Activities! More information below:

On Thursday 3rd, Janmashtami - Birthday Commemoration Service at 7pm for Bhagavan Krishna. Entry from 6:30pm.

On Sunday 13th, Sunday school is being held as the Reading Service takes place.

On Sunday 20th, there will be a social after the service. Please bring some vegetarian food to share.

On Saturday 26th, there will be a Special Service at 7pm to commemorate the Mahasamadhi of Lahiri Mahasaya. Entry from 6:30pm.

On Monday 28th, The Second Coming of Christ Study Group is being held via zoom from 5pm to 7pm.

On Wednesday 30th, there will be a Special Service at 7pm to commemorate the Birthday of Lahiri Mahasaya. Entry from 6:30pm.

July 25 commemorates Mahavatar Babaji, marking the auspicious occasion in 1920 when the great avatar visited Paramahansa Yogananda in Kolkata to bless the young swami’s mission to America to spread Kriya Yoga worldwide.

Paramahansa Yogananda writes in Autobiography of a Yogi:
“At that moment there came a knock on the door of my Garpar Road home. Answering the summons, I beheld a young man in the scanty garb of a renunciant. He entered the house.
“He must be Babaji!” I thought, dazed, because the man before me had the features of a young Lahiri Mahasaya. He answered my thought. “Yes, I am Babaji.” He spoke melodiously in Hindi. “Our Heavenly Father has heard your prayer. He commands me to tell you: Follow the behests of your guru and go to America. Fear not; you shall be protected.”
After a vibrant pause, Babaji addressed me again. “You are the one I have chosen to spread the message of Kriya Yoga in the West. Long ago I met your guru Yukteswar at a Kumbha Mela; I told him then I would send you to him for training.”
I was speechless, choked with devotional awe at his presence, and deeply touched to hear from his own lips that he had guided me to Sri Yukteswar. I lay prostrate before the deathless guru. He graciously lifted me up. After telling me many things about my life, he gave me some personal instruction and uttered a few secret prophecies.
“Kriya Yoga, the scientific technique of God-realization,” he finally said with solemnity, “will ultimately spread in all lands, and aid in harmonizing the nations through man’s personal, transcendental perception of the Infinite Father.” With a gaze of majestic power, the master electrified me with a glimpse of his cosmic consciousness.….
My whole body seemed sanctified through the touch of the ancient, ever-youthful master. Long had it been my burning desire to behold him.
Until now, I have never recounted to anyone this story of my meeting with Babaji. Holding it as the most sacred of my human experiences, I have hidden it in my heart.”

A Friendly Reminder - Monastic Visit & Virtual Convocation

From Thursday 30th July to Sunday 9th August our regular services will be replaced by the Monastic Visit and Convocation events.

We are delighted to announce that Sister Ranjana and Sister Chetana will be with us for Pre-Convocation events from Thursday 30th July to Sunday 2nd August.

Sister Ranjana and Sister Chetana will also be joining us at the Convocation Screening at Sydney Centre until Wednesday, 5th August 2026

Sydney Centre will be live screening the SRF 2026 Convocation from Monday 3rd August to Sunday 9th August. We will be streaming the talks, satsangs, kirtans, technique review classes and meditations.
