Yesterday, stalls adorned with bright yellow flowers and Daffodil Day merchandise could be found in the entries to both of our hospitals, raising an impressive amount of funds for this noble cause.

A huge thank you goes to our wonderful volunteers, who rallied behind the day and helped make it such a success. Their enthusiasm, generosity and support were invaluable.

Perhaps most importantly, the stalls provided an opportunity for many people to stop, share their personal experiences with cancer and connect with others. It was a reminder of why Daffodil Day matters — not only in raising vital funds, but in providing an opportunity to listen, connect and show support to those impacted by cancer.

Thank you to everyone who purchased, donated, volunteered or stopped by for a chat. A fabulous effort from our Calvary Hobart community!

A huge thank you for the generous donation of crocheted hearts, gifted by the talented Friends' School student Sydney.

Sydney made this bundle of hearts as part of a school community project and hand delivered them to our Executive team for delivery to those patients in the hospital that could benefit from a little more brightness in their day.

Each heart, elegantly made, comes with a beautiful message from Sydney:

This heart is for you,
made with love and
warm wishes, and hoping
that it brings you some
comfort. Feel better soon!

These hearts have made their way to Amelia and Sarah at the Rehabilitation ward at St John's Hospital, where they are sure to brighten their patients day during their stay.

Thank you, Sydney!

🍼 A new chapter for maternity care in southern Tasmania!

We're proud to celebrate the official reopening of our newly renovated maternity ward at Calvary Lenah Valley Hospital, nearly doubling our birthing capacity to support Hobart families for years to come.

The redevelopment brings a brand new 5th birthing suite, a Special Care Nursery, and upgraded spaces for mums, babies, and our amazing midwives.

It's the next chapter in a legacy that goes back almost 90 years, to when our maternity unit first opened in 1944. Since then, generations of Hobart families have begun their story right here at Lenah Valley. 💙

A big thank you to everyone who supported Bowel Cancer Awareness Month and National Red Apple Day across Calvary Lenah Valley Hospital and St John's Hospital.

It was fantastic to see so many staff engaging with the awareness displays, wearing red (or various costumes), and helping promote the important message of bowel cancer prevention, screening, and early detection. The enthusiasm shown across both campuses helped make the campaign a great success.

Special thanks to Laura Muggleton and Rebecca Cooper for their hard work in organising and coordinating the activities throughout the month. Their efforts were key to the strong staff participation and positive impact of the campaign.

Thank you to everyone who got involved and helped raise awareness of an issue that affects so many Australians. Every conversation and every show of support helps make a difference.

You can't feel high blood pressure, and you won't always know if your cholesterol is high.

That's what makes heart disease so dangerous.

The good news? Many of the biggest risk factors can be identified early and managed before they become serious problems.

For Men's Health Week, Dr Simon Binny, Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) in Cardiology at Calvary Lenah Valley Hospital, shares the eight key factors that influence long-term heart health, from sleep, exercise and diet to blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar management.

Tune in to the video below for advice on keeping your heart healthy for the long term, and visit our website to read the full Q&A with Dr Binny: https://ow.ly/b1tI50Zc8uU
