This National Stroke Week, Lithgow Community Private Hospital Day Surgery and Specialist Centre is helping raise awareness of the signs of stroke and the importance of acting quickly when they appear 🚨 A stroke is always a medical emergency. Recognising the signs and calling 000 immediately can help someone receive urgent treatment sooner and may reduce the impact a stroke has on their life 🚑📞

Remember the F.A.S.T. signs:

F - Face
💭 Has their face or mouth drooped?

A - Arms
💭 Can they lift both arms?

S - Speech
💭 Is their speech slurred, or are they having difficulty understanding you?

T - Time
💭 Time is critical. If you notice any of these signs, call 000 straight away.

Life after stroke can look different for every person. Some people may experience changes to their movement, speech, vision, memory, emotions or ability to complete everyday activities. Recovery may involve ongoing medical care, rehabilitation and support from family, carers and health professionals.

LCPH Specialist Centre provides local access to a visiting Neurologist, supporting patients who require specialist assessment, investigation and management of conditions affecting the brain and nervous system 🧠

While neurologist consultations can form part of a patient’s ongoing care, anyone experiencing possible signs of stroke must call 000 immediately rather than waiting for a specialist appointment.

This Dental Health Week, Lithgow Community Private Hospital Day Surgery and Specialist Centre is joining the conversation about the importance of caring for our teeth and gums, building healthy habits, and seeking professional care before smaller concerns become more complex 🦷🪥

You don’t need private health insurance to access care at LCPH!

Not every patient receiving care at Lithgow Community Private Hospital Day Surgery & Specialist Centre will have private health insurance - and for some people, self-funded treatment or surgery may be an option 💭

A self-funded pathway allows eligible patients to pay upfront to access private hospital treatment or surgery, which can mean quicker access to care and, in some cases, shorter waiting times than the public hospital system. At Lithgow Community Private, we offer very competitive self-funded hospital rates for patients considering this option ✅

It is important to understand that the estimate of fees or quote provided by LCPH covers the hospital fees only. This includes:

✔️ Nursing care

✔️ Accommodation

✔️ Costs associated with the operating room

✔️ Non-medical services such as housekeeping and catering

There may also be separate fees for your surgeon and anaesthetist, and if required during your stay, pathology and radiology may also incur additional costs. We encourage patients to speak directly with their specialist or surgeon about these fees.

There is no Medicare benefit for the private hospital component of the fees. However, some other costs related to your care, such as your surgeon or anaesthetist, may be claimable through Medicare. For more information, please speak with your surgeon, specialist, or Medicare directly.
