The VDC team spent today at learning about all things equine!

Guided by our incredible instructors, Nikki and Riley, the team leant many important skills including:

-Interpreting horse behaviour
-Halter placement & adjustment
-Horse handling including leading and walking
-Correct technique to pick up a hoof for inspection
-Blood drawer
-Observing safe equine sedation procedure

We also had the pleasure of performing intradermal allergy testing on ‘Ember’ 🐴 (pictured) a 16yro mare who has seasonal (spring/summer) pruritus and secondary alopecia (hair loss) and crusting on her face, legs and mane region.

Our vets meticulously injected 71 environmental allergens under the skin before Dr Dani carefully read Ember’s allergy test. Ember will soon start immunotherapy to help relieve her symptoms of allergic dermatitis 🍀🌼🌱🌳🌾
