🤱 World Breastfeeding Week | Did You Know?
Breastfeeding changes your body in incredible ways—but it can also affect your pelvic and vaginal health.
A new 2026 study found that many breastfeeding women experience symptoms of Genitourinary Syndrome of Lactation (GSL), yet most were unaware the condition even existed or that treatment was available.
Symptoms may include:
✨ Vaginal dryness
✨ Pain with in*******se
✨ Burning or irritation
✨ Urinary urgency or recurrent UTIs
✨ Reduced comfort during everyday activities
These changes are largely related to the temporary hormonal shifts that occur while breastfeeding. While they’re common, they don’t have to be something you simply “put up with.”
The good news? There are evidence-based treatment options. A pelvic health physiotherapist can work alongside your GP or specialist to help identify the cause of your symptoms and develop a treatment plan that supports both your recovery and your breastfeeding goals.
This World Breastfeeding Week, let’s also remember to care for the person doing the feeding. 💛
If something doesn’t feel right, don’t suffer in silence—help is available.
