π October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! π
This month is an important reminder to raise awareness about breast cancer, encourage early detection and support those affected by the disease.
Breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among Australian women.
π Know your breasts and be aware of any changes, including:
πΈ A new lump or thickening in the breast or underarm
πΈ Changes in breast size or shape
πΈ Skin dimpling, redness or other unusual changes
πΈ Ni**le changes or unusual discharge
πΈ Persistent or unexplained breast pain
π Early detection matters!
In Queensland, BreastScreen Queensland provides free breast screening every 2 years for eligible women aged 40 and over, with women aged 50β74 particularly encouraged to attend.
If you notice any unusual breast changes, donβt wait for your next screening appointment. Book an appointment with your GP.
π This October, letβs spread awareness, encourage conversations and remind our loved ones to prioritise their breast health.
