Whitsunday Funerals & Crematorium is a family owned and run funeral home, committed to providing compassionate, respectful, and dignified care to families and their loved ones. With three branches located in Mackay, Proserpine, and Bowen, we offer complete funeral services including our own Chapels and Crematorium.
Our Mackay team are looking to fill the Position for a Casual Funeral Directors Assistant, on the job training and development opportunities provided for the right candidate. The Funeral Directors Assistant play a key role in supporting our Funeral Directors to ensure services run smoothly and families are supported throughout the funeral process. This role involves both back of house and front of house duties including preparation, transportation, cleaning of vehicles and office spaces, after hours on call and assisting on funeral services. This role also requires you to be available to be on a rotating on call roster (currently week on week off), both after hours and weekends.
Key Requirements
A genuine, compassionate nature with a high level of empathy and attention to detail.
Able to perform administrational duties, Reception duties and good computer skills.
Ability to run PA, AV and Live Stream equipment, or be able to learn.
Current unrestricted drivers licence.
Availability to work on a rotating on call roster.
Physically fit and the ability to perform lifting and manual handling tasks.
Professional presentation (show this at the interview).
Strong communication skills and good writing skills.
Comfortable working in a sensitive and emotional environment.
Ability to follow direction and both work independently and as part of a team.
