🇯🇵 The Japanese Towel Method – Just 3 Minutes a Day
Looking for a simple way to stretch, relax and improve your posture?
The Japanese Towel Method is an easy daily stretch that encourages your body to gently unwind after the physical stresses of everyday life.
Here’s how:
✔️ Roll up a towel and place it under your lower back, level with your belly button, so it supports the natural curve of your lumbar spine.
✔️ Stretch your arms overhead towards the floor, bringing your thumbs and little fingers together.
✔️ Straighten your legs, bring your big toes together, and gently point your toes away from your body.
✔️ Relax into the stretch and breathe naturally.
To deepen your relaxation, try box breathing:
🫁 Breathe in for 4 seconds.
⏸️ Hold for 4 seconds.
🌬️ Breathe out slowly for 6 seconds.
Stay in this position for 3 minutes each day. Over time, many people notice improved posture awareness, easier breathing, greater relaxation, better sleep, and an overall sense of wellbeing.
At My Chiropractor Mackay, we love sharing simple movement strategies that can complement your chiropractic care and help you move with greater comfort and confidence.
📸 We’d love to see you give it a go! Send us a photo of yourself trying the Japanese Towel Method.
Keep an eye out for local schools, softball clubs, and even F45 members taking on the challenge. We’d love to see our Mackay community getting involved!
Remember: Keep your spine aligned… and you’ll be feeling fine! 😊
⚠️ This exercise should feel like a gentle stretch, never painful. If you experience pain, numbness, dizziness, or worsening symptoms, stop and seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
