**What if the map runs out before you do?**
Years ago, like many natural therapists, I used some of the symptom-and-belief correspondences popularised by Louise Hay and developed by others.
You may know the kind of thing:
You have a particular physical symptom, so you look up the emotional or belief pattern associated with it.
I found those systems useful.
They were good foundations.
They helped open the possibility that what happens in our bodies may not be completely separate from our emotions, beliefs and experiences.
But eventually I reached their edges.
Because a knee couldn't always mean *this*.
A throat couldn't always mean *that*.
The people sitting in front of me were far more complicated than the reference table.
And I've come to think that's rather wonderful.
**The human is gloriously complicated.**
So instead of abandoning structure, my work moved toward **larger structures of enquiry**.
That's an important distinction.
I don't want a system that tells me:
**"You have X, therefore you must have Y."**
I want enough structure that I can ask:
**"Where do we need to look?"**
Because without some structure, the haystack is enormous.
But if the structure has already decided what we're going to find, we're not really enquiring at all.
That principle now runs through much of my work.
Biosenetics gives me multiple areas of focus through which I can enquire.
The Somatic Spiral System — SSS — takes us far beyond a simple symptom-equals-belief equation.
A physical symptom may be part of the information, but instead of immediately assigning it a meaning we can ask:
**What larger pattern might this symptom be part of?**
And Quantum Spiral Praxis — QSP — gives us another structured way of exploring patterns through multiple lenses rather than reducing them to one explanation.
Different maps.
Different doorways.
None of them contains every possible answer.
And none of them is **you**.
That's the bit I never want to lose.
**The system provides the map.
You are still the landscape.**
If you've already tried several things, understand yourself pretty well, and yet something remains or keeps circling back, perhaps you don't need another predetermined explanation.
Maybe we need to ask a different question:
**What are we actually looking at?**
I've explored the story behind this way of working in this week's blog:

And in Friday's *Journeys Beyond with Shamarie*, I'm taking it further — into embodied wisdom, structure, Biosenetics, SSS, QSP, AI and, inevitably, my rather extraordinary hands.
If you're curious about the different ways we can explore your own patterns:

You don't have to know which map you need before you begin.
Sometimes we simply need somewhere useful to start looking.
**Notice the pattern. Change what's possible.**
