🐕 Walking the dog is great exercise… but let’s talk about what it actually does for your fitness!
Taking the dog for a walk absolutely counts towards your daily step count. It gets you moving, keeps you active throughout the day and can be great for your overall health and wellbeing.
But when it comes to cardio fitness, your usual dog walk may not be enough to really challenge your cardiovascular system.
Unless you have a dog that wants to run a marathon every morning! 😂🐕💨
For many of us, a leisurely stroll involves plenty of stopping, sniffing, chatting and waiting for the dog to decide which tree is very important. 🌳🤣
That's still movement — but if you want to improve your cardiovascular fitness, you need to occasionally increase the intensity.
Try adding:
🚶‍♀️ A faster pace
⛰️ Hills or inclines
🏃‍♀️ Short bursts of jogging
⏱️ Intervals of faster walking
💪 A separate cardio session
And remember, 15 minutes of purposeful exercise is better than doing nothing at all.
So keep walking the dog — enjoy the fresh air, get those steps in and enjoy the benefits. 🐾
Just don't rely on the dog walk alone if your goal is to improve your cardio fitness.
Move more. Move with purpose. And make it achievable. 💪

Is 15 minutes of exercise enough? ⏱️💪
Yes — 15 minutes of exercise is absolutely better than nothing.
If you only have 15 minutes, don't fall into the trap of thinking it's not worth doing. A short, purposeful session can still make a difference.
Just 15 minutes can help you:
💪 Build or maintain strength
🧘 Improve mobility and flexibility
❤️ Get your heart rate up
🧠 Boost your mood and energy
🦴 Support balance, posture and functional movement
🔄 Build consistency with exercise
The key is consistency rather than perfection.
After training with me, I encourage my clients to do their own training between sessions to complement what we do together. It doesn't have to be complicated or take an hour — even 15 minutes of purposeful movement can help keep you progressing.
I also like to include movement that fits in with your hobbies and the things you enjoy doing.
For me, golf means I need strength, endurance and good rotation to help me play well and move efficiently through my swing. ⛳️
With beekeeping, I'm always mindful of protecting my lower back. Spending hours hunched over the hives means I need to work on strength, mobility and good movement patterns to help my body cope with those demands. 🐝
That's why I believe exercise should be fun, practical and purposeful.
Think about the activities you enjoy and what your body needs to do them well.
Your exercise doesn't have to be perfect, and it doesn't always have to be long.
Make your exercise work for you, your lifestyle and the things you love doing.
Need some ideas? Contact Michele and let's find ways to make your movement purposeful, achievable and enjoyable. 💪😊

Not every client comes to see me to lose weight. 💪
When you think about personal training, you might automatically think weight loss.
But that's only one reason people choose to exercise.
My clients come to me with all sorts of different goals, including:
💪 Building strength — becoming stronger and more capable in everyday life or for a particular activity.
🦵 Rehabilitation and recovery — rebuilding movement, strength and confidence following an injury, alongside appropriate professional care.
❤️ Improving overall health — making exercise part of a healthier lifestyle and supporting long-term wellbeing.
🧘 Improving mobility and flexibility — moving more freely and feeling more comfortable in everyday activities.
🏌️ Improving performance — developing the strength, endurance, balance or mobility needed for a favourite sport or hobby.
👵 Staying strong as we age — maintaining independence, confidence, balance and functional movement.
And sometimes the goal is simply:
“I want to feel better in my body.”
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to exercise.
That's why I tailor training to you, your body, your lifestyle and what you want to achieve.
Exercise doesn't have to be about changing how you look.
It can be about what your body can do. ❤️
If you have a goal you'd like to work towards, big or small, contact Michele and let's make a plan that works for you.

Winter Warm-Up Ideas ❄️

Cold mornings make it tempting to stay under the blankets… but a proper warm-up can completely change your workout 🔥💪

Before you train this winter, try these quick warm-up ideas:
✅ 2–3 mins brisk walking or light cardio
✅ Arm circles + shoulder rolls
✅ Bodyweight squats
✅ Hip openers + leg swings
✅ Cat-cow stretches for the spine
✅ Light mobility work for stiff joints

A good warm-up helps:
✔️ Increase blood flow
✔️ Improve mobility
✔️ Reduce injury risk
✔️ Boost performance and energy

Remember — the hardest part is starting -once you get moving your body will thank you.
What’s your favourite way to warm up on cold mornings?

✨ Wellness Wednesday ✨
Your body is designed to move — and when it moves well, you feel well.
As an osteopath and personal trainer, we see it every day:
Pain isn’t something you just “live with.” Stiffness, tension, recurring injuries — they’re signals, not life sentences.
This week, focus on:
✔️ Moving with intention
✔️ Improving mobility before intensity
✔️ Strengthening to support your joints
✔️ Listening to what your body is telling you
Osteopathy helps restore balance and alignment.
Personal training builds strength and resilience and core strength thru Pilates.
Together, they create a body that functions at its best.
Midweek reminder: Don’t just train harder — train smarter.
If something feels off, let’s address it before it becomes a bigger issue.

Training in hot weather 🥵 ☀️💦💪
Hydration is key — before and after your session.

Make sure you’re replacing what you lose through sweat. Try Hydralyte to help restore electrolytes, and avoid sugary drinks that can slow recovery.

* Train smart
* Hydrate well
* Stay strong

Right now in our community, babies and children are going without life's most essential items. Parents are often faced with the heartbreaking choice between purchasing basic toiletries or paying for groceries and rent. This lack of access to hygiene products not only affects their health but also undermines their dignity, confidence, and comfort.

We urgently need your support to provide necessities like roll-on deodorant, nappy cream, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and toothbrushes, and body wash to children and families who are struggling. We are critically low on these essential items, and every bit of help makes a difference. Could you add a few extra toiletries to your next shopping trip, or share this post with your friends and family? We need all the help we can get right now. Anything you can do to help is so so much appreciated 💙 We do ask that these items please be donated brand new and unopened.
