We're delighted to welcome Dr Christie to the Highland Medical team! She will be joining us from Thursday, 6 August, and will be consulting every Tuesday and Thursday.

Dr Christie graduated from The University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine. She has gained extensive experience working in hospitals across Perth, Albany and Broome, as well as in general practice clinics while completing her RACGP Fellowship.

Dr Christie enjoys all aspects of general practice and is passionate about preventative healthcare, patient education and building strong relationships through clear communication.

We are delighted to welcome Dr Vyshnavey Smith M M, our new GP Registrar, who will be joining the Highland Medical team from Monday, 3rd August.

Dr Vysh graduated from Monash University Malaysia and has worked across a range of Perth hospitals since moving to Australia in 2018. She enjoys all aspects of general practice, with particular interests in mental health and geriatric medicine.

Important Medicare Update

Medicare now requires patients attending bulk-billed appointments to confirm that they agree to their Medicare benefit being paid directly to the practice (known as the Assignment of Benefit).

To make this easy, you may receive a HotDoc push notification, SMS or email after your appointment asking you to confirm your consent.

This is a new Medicare requirement and only takes a few seconds to complete.

We are delighted to announce that Western Diagnostic Pathology is now operating on site at Highland Medical, providing a convenient and accessible pathology service for our community.

Even better, the new service offers increased opening hours:

🕢 Monday to Friday: 7:30am – 4:30pm
☕ Closed for lunch: 12:30pm – 1:00pm

We’re seeking someone with excellent communication and time management skills who is passionate about patient care and working within a supportive general practice environment.

✔️ AHPRA Registered Nurse
✔️ Current CPR Certificate
✔️ General Practice Nursing experience preferred (but not essential)
✔️ A working knowledge of the Childhood and Adult Immunisation Program preferred (but not essential)
✔️ Best Practice software experience highly regarded

Today we say farewell to Dr Jennifer Low after 7 years with Highland Medical Centre.

Dr Low has been a valued and much-loved part of our team, providing compassionate care and making a lasting impact on our patients and staff alike.

While we are sad to see her go, we’re excited for her as she begins a new career path beyond general practice.

Free Flu Vaccine Clinics at Highland Medical

We're pleased to offer dedicated FREE flu vaccine clinics for patients of all ages who hold a valid Medicare card.

Clinic Dates:
• Saturday 2nd May
• Saturday 16th May

Appointments are essential and can be booked by contacting our reception team on 9409 5000.

There will also be additional designated flu vaccine clinics available for those unable to attend the Saturday sessions. These appointments are limited and can also be booked by contacting reception.
